I was viewing this chaps web site and on viewing one of the images " the skylight" became interested in how he achieved the blur/soft look in the trees.
Does any one know how this is achieved, i would like to have ago myself.

Thanks

May sound a bit crazy, but I'm wondering whether this is a comp of multiple shots?

I noticed the colours all seem to maybe 3 or 4 groups. The knocked out sage green blurry canopy, the warm tones on the branches and trunks, the ground tones, and then the vivid ground foliage. Then look at the branches. It almost looks like trees with no leaves with a canopy of foliage hovering above. To me they're either seperating areas out and applying effects to them individually, or this is a comp from maybe 2 or 3 seasons.

What do you think??

I should have read more in the comments, so its a orton effect, might well try some of that myself.

Thanks for the replies..

according to the guide you need 2 images:

The Orton image has traditionally been done using slide film with the first, sharp, image overexposed by two stops and the second, out of focus image, over exposed by one stop.

I think HDR is done in a similar way, by overlapping images. However, I think its been said you can do it with one image.

I am wondering if you could do this method with just 1 image? Would add a nice dream effect for portraits/wedding photos etc.

If you read the first link posted it has a walkthrough of how to achieve this with one image in PS.

That's a very nice effect, just had a quick play with the photoshop example and I can see me using it a lot more, this is just a quick test, no levels or anything have been changed as yet

Hairyduck, can we see the original?
It would be nice to compare them.
