My be tempted to buy as it seems like a good lens for the price is it to good to be true compared to canon equivalent:thinking:

Saw some photos taken with it and they were superb. Nice and sharp, lovely bokeh. I'd get one myself if i hadn't bought a Nikon 35-70.

i have a sigme 10-20mm f4.5 not good in low light and a canon 50mm fixed 1.4 which is great for low light situations but find can be restrictive if trying to shoot inside if i cant move around much to frame the picture.

If you've got a cropped sensor (you have with your 450d), you might be better with the tamron 17-50 which is equally a great lens.

I've owned both of the Tammy lenses mentioned, i.e. the 28-75 and the 17-50. Both really are as sharp as people claim. Downsides are the build quality when compared to the albeit much higher priced Canon lenses, slower AF, and IMO a definite lack of colour vibrancy when compared to say a Canon L.
For example, took my 28-75 to Venice with me. Every one of my Canon lenses (including the nifty fifty) had IMO much more vibrant colours. My 28-75 was sold straight after that holiday.

would you buy one for about £150

£150 would be bargain of the century.

I should say though that while my original one is absolutely superb, I got a second one recently as a backup, and its not half as good.

Also Krazy_Horse here came over to my place as he had concerns about his sample, and mine whooped it. So out of the 3 I've experienced first hand, only one has been sharp at f/2.8.

So if buying used, don't be afraid to ask for a full size wide open JPEG.

The IQ from this lens - all being well - is superb, regardless of price.

Love mine - although its my least used lens (50mm 1.4 is my favourite, followed by Tamron 17-35).

If the price is right you cannot go wrong with the Tamron Twins ;)

I have had one for a few months now, really like it. I would have to say it takes as good a shot as my canon 70-200 F4 IS does. Nice bokeh and very sharp.

Well worth £150

Very good. Love mine. Got it for £120 second hand: wide open it's rather nice, and stopped down a little, it's splendid. Very sharp, and I've found the colour vibrancy to be fine. Example shot:

I recently acquired one of these used having previously owned a Canon 24-70L (had to sell it last year)

My use is primarily landscapes 99% of the time, so we're talking f/8 and beyond and manual focusing. I'm satisfied with the sharpness but the Canon most definitely had the edge when it comes to contrast and colours. I'm not too keen on the Tamron's focus ring as it doesn't feel very precise, again the Canon trumps it with superior handling.

I think the AF speed in the Tamron lens is more than adequate for my needs, it seems to get a bad rep in this respect but I have no issue with it. I'm also satisfied with its performance when shooting wide open, no complaints

I'm going to stick with it for now, bought for £199 used

I'll most likely be shooting with the Canon 24-105L next year I reckon, need the extra reach and IS is a bonus
