Hello all,

i was wondering how good the kenko was, as compared to the canon ef1.4x.

its image quality i was interested in.
i know the price difference is quite good, but do not want to buy one then wish i had got the canon version.

anybody had one, got onr and using it, or maybe you sold yours to buy the canon version.

interested to hear your comments.

cheers paul

I went from the Kenko Teleplus 300 1.4 to the Canon 1.4 thinking I could improve. I sold the Canon within a month and now I have placed a wanted ad on the forum for another Kenko. Not saying the Canon was poor but that Kenko one I sold to Sonsey (Member) must have been a good one. I'm hoping for similar again.

I sold mine to buy a Nikon one. Don't know how well it fits on the Canon mount, but I found the Nikon fit was a bit "loose", which is a bit scary with an expensive lens hanging off the front of it....

I had the Canon, Kenko and Sigma all at the same time and did some testing.....I don't believe you'd be able to tell if a shot was Canon or Kenko in normal use.
Getting down to outrageous crop levels then the Canon appeared a tad sharper in the centre of the frame whilst the Kenko seemed to win around the edges.

I have used the Kenko for the past 3 years and I am very happy with it, not tried the Nikon version, My Gallery pics are mostly taken with this attached ( mainly all the bird shots)

Bob, how did you rate the Sigma vs the Kenko?

The Sigma gave a different colourcast to the Canon and Kenko. I assume that there's some interaction between the spectral coating of the lens and T/C....the basic IQ was fine. I'm sure that the problem wouldn't exist with a Sigma lens though.
