Hi folks
I'm Steve, I live in Sudbury, Suffolk with my wife and 3 grown up step children (I'm sure they'll sod off eventually
) and I'm a bus driver in Colchester. I've had an interest in photography since I can't remember when. The first camera I ever remember having was an old Halina disk camera (remember them?) with which I snapped everything that moved and quite a few things that didn't. From there I progressed to a cheap and nasty Argos 35mm film compact which I loved. I took that on holiday to Ibiza and it happily died on me with the first couple of days. I promptly found a camera shop in San Antonia and spent a lot of my beer money on a Minolta SLR. This was many years ago and I never really had a clue just how much potential I had with this camera and I just used it in auto mode and never really understood it. Soon it became a dust collector and ended up on a car boot sale. With the dawn of digital technology I went through several point and shoot cameras, my last one being a Fuji A830 which was pretty good - I got some great pics from it, but I never really stopped regretting selling the Minolta. So, a couple of years ago I had some spare cash and bought a Nikon D60 and kit lens. I absolutely love this camera and have since added a Nikon 55-300 mm VR lens, a Jessops flash gun, a tripod (albeit a cheap hama one off ebay but for now it does the trick) and an off camera flash lead. I also am trying my best to get my head around photoshop....I started off with Elements 8 but was convinced by a friend to download the trial of CS5 which I did and used for the full 30 days and absolutely loved. I found going back to Elements was terrible and I really didn't like it after experiencing the power of CS5 so.....out came the credit card!!!! Aside from photography I also enjoy flight simming on my PC and pretty much anything aviation....so if anyone's brave enough to look at my flickr site you'll see lots of aeroplanes - although this does provide an opportunity to practice panning. Anyway, thanks for reading if you've not had enough my flickr address is on my profile and I'm sure I'll get around to posting something here within the next few days. I'm always happy to get comments and constructive criticism as I'm always looking to improve my photography. I may be a long way from the best but it's a work in progress - I don't get out nearly as often as I'd like to.
Cheers
Steve
