I'm thinking of getting an Optech Pro strap, but wonder if it is comfortable worn across the chest as I find this the most convenient way to carry it when walking.

Any feedback please from anyone who wears camera this way.

I have a optech strap and it is very comfortable. I do tend to carry on my shoulder mainly.

Well I just got mine in the post today, and it is DAMN good. In normal position, AND over shoulder. Infact, over shoulder, you can hardly feel it.

For the D200, you get the 3/8 fitment. I THINK it's the same for the D80. :D

Thanks Oli,Where did you get yours from and how much did it cost?

one on each shoulder, easier to get to.

I love my strap, I've even bought a second one so that I can hang my camera off the d-rings on my rucksack for long days out, to save the weight on my neck.

Hmm that's an idea:)

Can honestly say that i've never put the camera round my neck, ever. It feels horrible round my neck, really don't like it & it makes me feel uncomfortable. I carry it via the strap on my shoulder, and then when i'm taking photos I tend to wind the strap round my arm once, so it's a bit like a support bar, and then i just hold the camera. So, if for any reason my camera should slip out of my grip, it'll catch itself via the strap on my arm.

Same as Slapo, except I'll usually wind my strap round my wrist.

I just use the Canon E1 hand strap if a small lens or slung over my shouder on the end of the monopod if i borrow something bigger.

I wear mine as follows:

Left shoulder - 1DMkii or 30D(gripped) + 24-70 L + 430 EC with the display screen resting at my hip.

Right shoulder - 1DMkii or 30D(gripped) + 70-200 F4 L with the hot shoe resting on my hip and the lens tucked round my side/back.

I use the Canon OEM straps. However the camera on my left shoulder will be on a shorter strap as then I can tuck and hold the two cameras around my back without them banging into each other.

LOL. You have been stalking me  Nah, they are going to ring back on Friday :|

Round my neck with an Op/Tech Pro strap slung low enough for me to be able to cradle the camera when needed, also allowing the carrying of binoculars (on a shorter strap) at the same time.

Bought mine from here http://www.procameragear.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/1_21/products_id/28 Cheaper at the time, than anywhere i could find in the UK and no duty to pay as under the limit. Took about a week to arrive. :)

That was cheap. What was the carriage and did you have to pay in US dollars?

I do the exact same, love the optech pro strap, its excellent. Often have the 70-200 on the camera and don't even feel it when its over my shoulder
