How do you store your photographs ??

Just back from holiday only to find out that I have filled up my computer with piccies ! I have been keeping them all on my hardrive and doing a backup onto CD's.

What do you do with your pictures, a mate suggested an external hardrive ?
 
personally all my piccies are on my laptop, and once a week backed up to an external hdd, personally rather than getting 1 big hdd id get 2 or three smaller ones, theres less to loose if something should happen to it then.

dvd is another option i used in the past but i didnt see the point in using alot more space and spending alot more money on other memory.

At the moment I have one desktop 1tb drive and one portable 500gb, and about to get another too. As much as I can, the portable is ALWAYS plugged in, and is used as my only drive, really, for pictures - as I have only 25gb left on my drive and wanna keep it for necessities...
 
I back mine up to an external 1TB disk, which is powered down and not connected to the system when I am not in the process of syncing - we've had power spikes due to lightning before and I just don't want to risk it.
 
all on my laptop... then also backed up on 500gb external drive... Also ones i really like printed in a portfolio!!
 
On my laptop initially.....after I've done a shoot and processed the pictures I'll refresh the backup on my portable hard drive, and once in a while I'll back that up to my home server.

I keep meaning to make HQ jpegs of my favourite shots and put them on some cloud storage like Dropbox as well.
 
All on external hide drives, one backs up the other, and nothing on computer hard drive.
 
I copy on PC, then on two external drives, 1 of which is portable so can be watched on TV (if required!)
 
All pictures I import into Lightroom are copied onto either of my "archive drives" one attached to the network at home and one that is always out and about with me. All my "keepers" anything that is newer that 6 months old, or has been used/sold stay on my laptop, which is backed up onsite and offsite in the clound. I also keep full res jpegs on my webserver.

It gives me some better ideas on what to do with my pictures.
 
Some nice Kenro binders and negative and slide pockets, with the contents of each film indexed in a sheet at the front. :)
 
I haven't got an external hard drive yet, so for now they're just on my laptop and keepers on memory sticks.

Really need an external hard drive though..
 
I use lightroom to organise my images, I store them on a 500gb external hard drive (desktop). LR sorts out file organisation for you. I also have a 320gb portable that I purchased a few days back which i'll use if I ever need to take photos anywhere, for clients etc, or on location.
