How do you know if your monitor is PVA or IPS?

I've been really getting into my PC editing workflow and now looking to get another monitor to help. However I'm unsure what my current monitor is in terms of being a PVA or IPS. I've heard some are better than others in terms of getting the rid colour and stuff.

Anyone know a way to find out at all what I've got? The monitor itself is a Dell E197FPf (came with my PC when I first bought it)

Also if anyone could suggest any good monitors for a 2nd screen that would be very handy

Looking at the spec. of this monitor, it is a TN panel.

TN isn't the best is it? Heard that it's hard to get the colour right and keep it that way?!

I got this one a few weeks ago as well, it's a solid monitor but i really can't tell difference between it and my last TN type one, and it'll need calibrating as mine was horribly blue tinted out of the box.

Well I've got a friend who's got a Colormunki so I'll just borrow that and get the screens sorted.

If there's not much difference then it should be fine with my "cheap standard" screen.
