How do you get your prints, Do print them yourself at home or order via online firm or use store.

Whats cheapest for A4 sise or A3 size. how do you find the quality and did you calibrate your monitor to their prints?

I have an MP170 but cant seem to get it to match colours then disovered i can upload the jpegs to firms like photobox and they will print them. A4 approx 1.30.

I use Photobox and find them excellent.

same here :)

I print my own A4 and A3 but use Pixum, photobox or Foto.com whichever has the best deal at the time for my 6x4s.

Colab for the stuff I don't want to print myself

photobox for the "everyday stuff"
as they are a lot more expensive, I reserve Colab for the " extra special ones"

I use photobox....

whats "colab"????

Thanks very much.....:)

I also use Photobox, excellent quality and service.

Had an email today from Snapfish for 20 free prints so I ordered some. I'm interested in seeing their quality as they are bit cheaper than photobox

I used photobox for A4 prints with great results. Unfortunately the only 2 A3 prints I got from them came out way too dark. They said it was down to my monitor calibration (hasn't been done) but I would so have to darken the monitor down it would be just wrong. I would have to wear sunglasses instead or something lol. Has anyone found this when printing?

I also use Photobox, have done for past couple of years... Had 16x12, A4, 10x8, 8x8, 8x6, 7x5 etc... All come very quickly and very reasonably priced. I did use snapfish but found their print sizes were too limited.

Yes but Loxley colour generally only deal with professionals too :)

They are used by many Pros and are classed as a Pro Lab but they do happily deal with Joe Public, after all I'm no Pro.

I use their ROES service to upload over the interweb and they deliver next day.

Nice one chaps,

So lots of votes for photobox plus a few others in the mix.

will give them a try as i lost my patience with my printer:bang:

I have calibrated my monitor using a huey pro but it seems to come out a little pink, unless my eyes are just used to the 'old' monitor settings.

Thanks all.

I have used Snapfish a few times, happy with their small prints (not tried anything else) and very cheap.

I didn't have much luck with photobox, not keen on the prints, colours look different from the original files and found I had to adjust my monitor quite a bit to stop them being too dark.

I took files to a local printers: http://www.cameramarts.co.uk/acatalog/Lab.html and they came out fantastic, didn't need any alteration or messing around with printer profiles. Printed in 30mins while I had a wander round the shops too :)

Well at least I'm not the only one then. What sizes were the prints?

are jessops any good.

I have one close to work but have never really heard anything good about them.

My mate Tony at Designline does my large format printing. For smaller stuff it's photobox. I have a magazine somewhere which compares half a dozen or so, I'll see if I can find it.

Just got my photos from Snapfish so I thought I would report back.

They seem a little dark compared to my calibrated monitor and I overlapped some of the prints with ones I already had from Photobox and they are slightly darker than them.

They colour, despite being darker is full and rich so no complaints there. But I won't be using them again because of two things:

1: The fine detail from the macro shots look soft.
2: The black and white shots have a blue cast. Again one of the b&w's I've had done from Photobox and does not have this blue cast.

Thanks All,

Jesspos worked out at 2.99 for an A4:eek:

So i think its Photobox first off..... Just waiting for the calibrating picture to be sent so I can match my monitor to the prints.

My Huey Pro has been sent to Huey as i think it was faulty. Giving a pink cast over everything so I phoned them and they seemed to recognise the problem. Should be interesting.

Got a lab just up the road from work - profolab - they are very good and relatively cheap; £3.35 for a 12x8 on Glossy Fuji Crystal Archive stock.

FWIW there is an exhibition of photos at the OXO in London just now (or at the end of the week or something) where they did all the prints...

I upload mine online to Costco then collect them whenever i'm next in the shop, it's a trade wholesaler so you need to be in business or a member of a number of organisations, NHS/police/fire doctor lawyer etc

What's the quality like from there? I'd seen the service when I was in, but didn't think it'd be up to much.

I think they're pretty good, as good as anything i've had from the high street, I've never used pro printers because I mostly only print the photos my wife likes which usually have the kids in them

Thanks for the input.

received the calibrating card from photobox and couldnt match it for the life of me. So i got it as close as possible. Have ordered some today in A4 so will let you all know what I think when I get them.

Thanks again
