Duvet covers? I do sometimes wonder how men did so well on the Krypton Factor, those 3D puzzles, considering so many seem to have duvet issues..... my method [also being short of stature and arms] which is just a version of the inside out cover version - take one corner of duvet and match up to furthest inside corner of cover, do the same with opposite side, grab both corners from the outside, stand on bed and shake, fasten the buttons [btw, I think duvets were designed by men, women would have used velcro or zip fasteners, life is too short to be pishing around with a million buttons, fastening them takes me longer to do than getting duvet inside cover]

It would also help if the bloody opening was more than half the width of the cover too!
Now there's a thought, zips (or velcro) along at least 2 of the sides :thumbs:
 
I went back to using blankets 20 years ago, as I find it impossible to control the temperature with a duvet. (even with a choice of 4 togs.)
But I never had trouble stuffing them.

Mine is similar, but I pull hhe cover dpwn the duvet whilst it's on the bed, the grab the bottom and give a couple of flips
and yes to zips or velcro, bit not down the sides that could be painful :eek:

Indeed, Yves Geza is like a turntable in bed, I usually end up with the side of duvet just about covering me, or the whole lot over my side and hanging off, without actually having done any of it myself, so no to velcro up the sides thanks :lol:
 
Don't have that problem here, well untill the dogs come to stay, then I don't get much of the bed or duvet :lol::love:
 
I'd also love to know how when you wash a duvet cover with other items how does said duvet cover manage to swallow most of them? There must be some kind of scientific explanation.

THIS!! I thought it was just me! No matter what I do, pillow cases and anything else that started off outside the cover, end up inside it during the laundry bit, just HOW?? ...and no, before anyone suggests is, I am NOT messing around with all those sodding buttons fastening them before putting in the wash.
 
I am going to enquire of those that do the Infinite Monkey cage as it is one of those questions that must be answered!

It's the only way to stop all the other laundry taking refuge in there.
 
Is that where all the odd socks go, buggered if I can find a matching pair after washing em :bang:

But that's just like a sleeping bag especially the ones that zip together,
after years of going camping, I could live with it TBH, if it meant changing the cover in under 3 hours :thumbs:

I have a solution to that one,
I put everything into the pillow case or duvet cover before washing it,
and it comes out separate and folded too :D
You gotta out think technology :D

Actually pillow cases are good for putting socks in and tying the top, that is,
unless Paul Daniels slips in while you aren't watching,
Hey! Presto! all the socks are where you left them :thumbs:
 
Quite separate from the OP's problem but still duvet related.

Mrs N and I are both fairly still sleepers and neither is really a duvet hog; however the 3rd member of the ménage is rather mobile and for something that weighs about 5% of my bodyweight seems to take an inordinate amount of duvet. Not by rolling it around her (au contraire, she hates being covered!) but by lying on it between us. This usually results in my butt getting uncovered. A super king sized duvet does sound like an answer but then, how would we get the thing back in the cover? :D
 
......and another thing....

Why do cats have to lie across the bed so I am left with a few inches at the edge? :rolleyes:
 
7 cats, though down to 6 tonight, Loki is at the Mayhew ready for THE op tomorrow morning. For the last 7 weeks of course, we have only had the 1 cat in bedroom, and he is really quite small and even more brilliantly [for me] has taken to lying on the pillow wrapped round J's head... I am getting so used to getting an entire half of a kingsize bed :D Might have to leave things that way for quite some time to come :naughty:

Nope, they have their own cage in the bedroom, bloody big thing [the 'boys' could use it together as a travel cage if you car was big enough]with big fat cushions that they love. As soon as we say "come on, upstairs, bedtime" they run up and get in and settle down to sleep. :D

Mind you, we heard today there has been a couple of break ins on our road in the last few weeks, very unusual round here but the dogs might be allowed to roam free over-night for while so they will bark if they hear anything :suspect:

Aww poor little Loki :sulk: so this is why J was so keen to keep him, he's used to a nice warm head now :lol:

I had one of those before I moved, could have lived in it myself almost :lol:

If they are anything like my lot used to be they will be fast asleep snuggled up to you and not move a muscle, the 'boys' on the other hand ...................................
