How do you forget? Well anyone who has managed won't feel the need to join in this post.

PS from the first post it sounds like you have murdered them going by the "vanishing".
I've had a fairly recent break up from someone I was with for 6 years.. thought we were "different" to all the other couples. Had a house for a few years and just got married and it went pete tong. It depends what you call getting over it.. I have accepted that it's happened and now just don't think about it and concentrate on my new life.. if anything the only thing I won't get over is having given 6 years to someone who is now no part of my life and having to have sold the house that was my home. On the flipside with no house to pay for I have been able to buy an SLR and some goodies to cheer me up.. And I'm now with a girl I used to go out with in my school days and I'm a happy loon.
So in summary.. dont kill them, look forwards not backward, and any cliches you can think off.. go with them, don't listen to sad songs.. and treat yourself for a while.
