im editing up a picture of one of my children

now ive shot these in raw. this is the first time ive shot in raw and as it did not look like my flash had fired in the raw pic i started to raise the exposure im presuming its normal to look like that as it saves alot more data

my question is as i was doing this i was raising and lwering my head and getting three diffrent results it looked brighter the more i raised my head then came down as i lowered it how do you know which one is correct or is it as simple as looking straight at the screen

Cheap LCD screens valve terrible brightness control at different viewing angles.

They also suffer from terrible colour rendition.

On my work laptop screen I can show people this with a purple cell in Excel. Which would be 2 shades different from top to bottom of screen even viewed head on.

Your short answer it to keep the screen upright and view it head on.

The longer answer is to get a better screen and calibrate it.

Th histogram in lightroom should help keep you right

yeah, the dell ultrasharp 2209wa is a good, pretty affordable, half-decent screen.

I have the same problem on my dell studio
I do all sorts of fun editing on my laptop but wouldn't bother for anything serious

hard to get descent screens on lap tops without having to pay big bucks you get much better screen on a mobile phone
