Hi

I have CS6 installed on a Windows PC, the install includes both the 32 bit & 64 bit versions on a 64 bit OS.

How do I set the RAW files to open in the 32 bit by default as opposed to 64 bit? If I right click on the RAW and select Open With, there is no 32 bit CS6 to select as default.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

A tad confused by your statement ~ you seem to be saying that your 64bit OS installed both the 32 & the 64 bit versions, yes? If so AFAIK that is exceptional...............I have CS6 and only the 64bit version installed by default even though the installer has both within it.

So if by some to me odd happenstance you have managed to install both........................why would you want the RAW to open in the 32 bit version vs what seems to be your default install of the 64bit???

Perhaps you can show us a screengrab showing that you have bot variants installed :)

I installed the 32 bit version (along with the 64 bit version) because I have plug ins that only work in the 32 bit version.

I want to open RAW by default in the 32 bit version so I can move from ACR to Ps without closing one and opening the other to complete the workflow, if the workflow requires use of the plug ins that is.

Hope that makes sense. Windows used to offer me the choice of default (32 or 64) but since a fresh install of OS and everything else that option seems to have disappeared.

Yep. That option seems to have disappeared - for some reason.

If CS6 32bit isn't an option in Open With>Choose default program the only way to get it back is via a registry tweak (which is a pain in the neck).

The easier (but not ideal) workaround is:
  • Launch CS6 32bit
  • Double click a PSD file
The PSD should now open in CS6 32bit because it was already running.

PS. The registry tweak will work if you modify the correct 'Open With' entries.
