Hello all.
I recently bought prophoto4, and an add on theme so I can build a basic website.
I am totally lost on what I am doing. I have looked for tutorials, and instead of helping, I get more confused due to the number of tutorials on different ways to do stuff.
As an example, I cannot even get the built in contact form to work.Click on it, nothing happens. So I follow the problem solving tutorials, and still nothing.
As a second example, the theme has a gallery header, which is supposed to change pic every few seconds, even that doesn't work.

So is it possible to wipe everything and start afresh? I have re-installed wordpress, and re-uploaded the theme which I bought (It's called Clean slate by the way). But it makes no difference. All the messing around I have done is re-loaded when I change the theme, or activate a new one.

Finally, any idea on a place for decent tutorials, which won't make things worse?

I need some serious help.:bonk:
Thanks,
Gary

Hi Gary

Although I can't really help with your problems I was in the same boat a few months ago, all I did was keep plugging away at it, reading forums, YouTube etc etc. I finally got a site up and running. I took one issue at a time and just kept going until I finally got it sorted. I used elegantthemes for my theme and they have a good forum for each theme they sell. Websites are a real time thief if you haven't done one before but even though I haven't done much work on it recently I documented every fix/issue I solved so I could re-do it if it went belly up

There's a little hidden trick that will allow you to reset the whole thing. *Go to "Prophoto 4" then "Manage Designs" page.

Then in your browser's address bar, add:

&show_reset=true

To the very end of the URL and then press enter.

Then a "Reset everything" button should appear on the right that you can click. :)

Two suggestions from me:
Do not delete what you have done already! You never know when it will come in handy. If you rename the theme folder (add _old) in your FTP client you should then be able to re upload the clean theme.

If you aren't already, use MAMP/WAMP to run you install locally so you can tweak it as much as you like without breaking a live site.
