Hello,

Has anyone had any success with sending images from the Sony A6000 to their Android phone ? This is what I'm doing but the phone says it is connected but the camera will sit saying connecting for the rest of eternity (or at least till the battery goes flat !. I preview the image press the Fn button and select this image It then says operate smart phone to connect to this device, I go to smart phone ,wifi, then connect to the camera the phone says connected but as previously stated the camera will sit there for ever saying connecting. What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks all.

Is this via an App?

Works for me using the Sony Imaging Edge Mobile app. From the camera menu select send to smartphone, start the Imaging Edge Mobile app on the phone, scan the QR code displaying on the camera and transfer happens....

Tried The Edge mobile app but now the phone does not see the camera at all, is this software to do image transfers already on the camera ?

To perform the transfer the Camera sets up it's own wi-fi hotspot - which your phone has to connect to.
Some Android phones, by default will initially connect, discover the connection has no internet, and immediately disconnect - I know I had this issue in the past, and had to turn off a wi-fi setting on the phone - I can't remember what the setting was called though :( - it's was something like 'Smart Network switching' ?
This may be your problem.

O.k I officially give up ! I've tried various Youtube vids and still no joy the camera never connects to the mobile although the mobile says it has. I'm sure this camera hates me and I'd gladly launch it in the bin if it hadn't cost me so much. I think I've now wasted 2 to 3 hours of my life /spare time on this thing, I've never really had much success with it. Having checked online this seems to be a common problem with the Sony with lots of forum posts saying the same. Back in the cupboard it goes.

Rant over !

Have you checked the firmware on the A6000, it's currently running 3.21

Why not just avoid all the stress and do this via a pc?

I put reduced size pictures on my phone and tablet all the time this way. Assuming you have a pc or if you can't maybe you can beg time on one.

I used to work in tech but now I avoid it as much as possible as so much of it these days just doesn't work or if it works it's clunky and iffy and unreliable. Best avoid issues if at all possible :D

I also worked in tech some years back ( electronic service engineer) was and I suppose still am a licensed radio Ham so was always messing with something tech wise. I wished originally to be able to do this in the field but I think I'll stick with the phones camera. It just works out of the box although it is a little limited. I did look at prices on eBay for the Sony and they still seem to fetch a resonable amount so I think I may list the Sony on there and put the money into another hobby ( I have too many hobbies !)

It does work but I remember the set up not working for the 1st 60 attempts if doing it. But once it works, it's fine.

I use it for remote control too, very useful.

Although this post has been extremely unhelpful.

ah, if you want to do this when out and about I suppose doing it via a computer isn't an option.
