How do I make it shorter?

Yes
Seriously, I know anything on the internet is normally, "How to make it bigger" but this is quite genuine. I have a client that has an image of a table and its shot to a white background.

He also sells the same table but shorter. How do I change my image to make it look shorter? I can't for the life of me work out how to reduce its length?

Hmm - chop out the middle section but this could be tricky to do realistically depending on the image - if you post it advice would be easier!

Ok, here we go, the offending image.

I tried chopping the middle out - just didn't look right - the lighting changes subtly across the table but it becomes obvious when you splice it.

Sorry!

Make a selection of the lower part of the legs, then press ctrl J, load the selection, click copy, then paste into the original layer, make sure you have the original layer selected, select the move tool and move the selection to make the legs appear shorter.

Then use the clone brush to clean up the legs. I haven't done that.

This is a very crude and quick way to do it.

Content aware scaling if you have CS4 or failing that free transform should do the job nicely.

Or what 'shorter' means judging by the efforts so far. Shorter as in length of the legs, or shorter as in the length of the table top.
lol, I was just thinking the same here. It was actually the width I was talking about. Chinese whispers eh?
