Yes
I took this snap this morning, wee hand held compact while being roughly mugged by the other horses...

I like it as a snap, after four days of wild rain and wind it makes me smile to see the sun :D

I just wondered is it possible to make this a "good" shot with processing (something I am very novice at) or would you just say it is what it is?

Many thanks.

You won't be able to sufficiently recover the underexposed subjects, if that's what you mean. There are lots of effects you could tinker with in various software, but I'd suggest that, in your words, it is what it is.

There are loads that you can do with it!

Just give it a bit of a boost maybe...

Thanks guys, yes its perhaps that I lack imagination or maybe more that I just don't know "if I do x, the result will be y" - I guess I just need to have a play around?

Woof Woof - thanks, I really like that :-)

Mike if you don't mind, what would you do with it?

Thanks.

Just play around with it, but can I make a suggestion? I assume this is a JPEG, so save the original and make a copy to experiment with. JPEGs gradually deteriorate if you edit and save repeatedly. I like the shot, by the way, and I know what you mean about the local weather. We're in Crossmichael, so probably not too far from you!

Get yourself a Lightroom trial - or even Elements, for non-destructive editing.

I like woof woof's edit - I'd clone out the thing from the hat and it's a lovely shot!

We are just North of Gretna but living on a bog, I'm hoping for the snow we got last year or at least a good hard frost!

Yes Jpeg, will have a play!

I have elements and have got as far as putting it on the computer... will be brave and head of in there... I may be some time

I think a B&W edit would work with this.
\Sadly, I cant show you as I'm at work

I suspect you got a 'little' more than us. We had a foot of light fluffy snow that sat and covered the mud for months, it was so bright and cheery but didn't stop us going anywhere, bliss :-)

The last 2 years have been mayhem. We had about 3 months of snow and about a foot every day or so. It just never left. It's not far off again, temps dropped to freezing tonight. Praying for no more snow.

Not a bad shot at all. I would certainly keep it as a silhouette.

If this is literally a snap, be happy with it. Imagine what you could have done with some forethought and a bit of prep time.
