Hi all,
I took some photos at a friends wedding a few weeks ago and now I have a problem.

Well, they have moved to Dubai and I need to get them 852 photos (1.37 gig) that I need them to have access to.

I can't post them because they don't have a fixed address yet and they can't download them in full resolution from photobox or flickr.

Any ideas?

megaupload.com, rapidshare.com or any of the other file sharing websites. **removed**. If you want privacy then encrypt the files with PGP or a similar program.

Cheers Jamougha,
Will have to split the folders but I can do that.

If someone has some web hosting then you could upload it to there and they can download it, might take a while to upload it but shouldnt be too bad.

If you are stuck I have plenty of space going spare you can use temporarily :)

Is there NO chance of posting them to a place of work or a contact there? Maybe a Poste Restante address (if such things still exist!).

couldn't you create a gmail account and give them access. Not sure of storage allowance but seem to remember that it was around 2GB?

thats going to be a lot of work on gmail as its only 10mb attachments, web hosting is the best way really.

Well, I have pretty good experience with rapidshare.com (I bought a premium account even) and beamfile for photo exchange (raw files) with one of my friends.
If your friends have Yahoo, ICQ, MSN or something like that, then it might be possible to send at least some of those photos directly via their file transfer feature.

This is for you, gorilla man! Try

Podmailing.com,
FREE, unlimited file size transfer
.

You upload (encrypted) files/folders (if you want), they get a link in eMail, so their inbox does not get blocked, they only need to click to download.

Broadband required on both ends.

Alternatively you may have to send a DVD through snail mail.

Have fun!

Thanks Her Majesty, will take a look.

Cheers for all your advice guys...

I use Pbase for my hosting. Cheap, password protect, large size areas, very good. It's $23 for 500Gb and you can have a temp trial account of 10Mb.

He's not asking how to display his photos on the web, guys, just how to get the original, big, files from A to B.

For security in transit you can zip whole folders full of files with a password. Set that option in the preferences of your zip app. Your photos' image quality is not affected. At all. They just become huge locked files to anyone who might intercept them and will simply ask for the password every time someone tries to open them.

Of course you then still have to get your password out to Dubai by some other means...

I've just bought a new network hard drive & it comes with software that lets folders act as a webserver. All I have to do is give somebody the web address and they can have read-only access to as much as I open up .
