Your honest opinions please?
I am moving to near Tonbridge tomorrow for a few weeks, so will be in striking distance of Brands Hatch.
I am considering turning up for the BTCC on the saturday. I see so many great shots from Brands that it leads me to ask the question.....

.... If I turn up with my 70-200mm on full frame, how disappointed will I be on a scale of 1-10, with the shots I come home with. Ideally of course, i would like some lovely shots of the cars coming up the hill towards the hairpin, and various other spots.

Many thanks

Lovely set there. Half of them were at focal lengths under 200mm, so there is certainly hope.

Plus, just because you have a full frame sensor doesn't mean you can't crop down to APS-C framing size, or less. The problem facing the APS-C guys is that they can't uncrop their shots.

You may struggle for the classic Paddock Hill shot (thats really at least 300mm on APS-C, might be asking a lot for a decent crop out of a 200mm and FF), but I'm sure you can find something else to shoot.

Give it a go!

Thanks for the wise words. What do they say....nothing ventured, nothing gained, so I will give it a go.
Looking forward to some tropical southern weather after months of the big freeze in North Yorkshire!!!

You're gonna be sadly dissapointed on the weather front! Don't expect more than about 2 tommorow, with wind, feeling like about -5. Oh and it might snow too.

All depends how good you are!

That has always been my stumbling block. Hopefully it is changing a little of late. I will look upon it as a challenge, and aim to come away with a good variety of shots from the day, definitely using some wider angles, and avoiding just some side on pans. Looking forward to seeing a new circuit anyway!

Thanks for your help people, much appreciated!

If you are around next week still you can catch some proper racing with BSB :-)

Shame it's the Indy circuit rather than the GP circuit, but should be another great season of racing

Happier than I thought I would be.

Disappointed...... maybe 2/10 - but thats all!

Just looking through my shots now - some decent ones by my standard, I reckon.

Was a good circuit to visit and spectate at, nice and undulating, and with some good viewpoints.

Coming back for BSB next week then?

I think I will head over for both days next weekend. Will be great to see some bike racing after a long absence!
Why the ruddy hell not indeed!!'
