Hi all, just processing some images from today and noticed that the exif data has a name in the field for 'artist' and creator in the IPTC core. The name is not mine! How do I go about getting it changed so that it says my name?? I didn't use any software to transfer them, just dragged the files on to the hard drive and looked using Bridge. Most odd...

If you have Adobe Bridge I'm guessing you have Photoshop as well so go to File>File Information and you can change meta data in there.

thanks. I'd love to know how the name is getting on there so that I can change it permanently, otherwise I'll have to do this for every picture

I would guess it's set in your camera somewhere, did you buy it new or secondhand?

I got it second hand but I can't find anything in the menus giving options on inputting names. i'm beginning to wonder if there's something on the canon software that sets that information. Any Canon 30D owners know?? I've not installed the software on the computer as I've not seen a need for it on here. It's on my other one down in Cambs and I'm not there for another 10days. Grrrr!

That's not so bad then, if you bought new I'd be worried lol

There must be a menu in camera somewhere, but being a Nikon user I can't help you further

One of the programs on the Canon CD will let you change the name when the camera is connected to the PC.

You get a bit of software with the camera (called EOS Utility for the 40D and I think it's Camera Remote for the 30D).

With that installed and the camera linked by the USB cable you can go into options and set an artist's name that will be applied to allow photos.

that's great, thanks. I've not got the disc or usb cable at home so i'll have to wait for a couple of weeks.

you're a star!
