How can I edit this photo to make it look nice?

I took a photo but the colours are all awful

just a quick edit, could be a lot better if more time was spent on it,
dodge skin where colour cast was, take out shadow under chin,
remove stud,
adjust skin tone to make warmer look,
brush in light colour to side of head to give a bit of contrast,

Likewise, another quick one (well two) with a different taste and slant
Used channels to remove as much of the colour cast as I could. Little bit of contrast added:

The B+W version, using the above as a base. GIMP Tri-X preset but after adding grain with an FX_Foundry plugin:

A bit OTT with the grain, I think. Another one below, when photobucket gets its finger out.
