Over the last few days I've driven from Cornwall to Bath, then on to Skipton, then Llandudno, then Wrexham, and finally back to Cornwall. More than enough for me on what was meant to be a bit of a holiday..
Tomorrow I have to drive to London, and as the final day of half-term for many I fear the roads may be pretty busy,so has anyone got any ideas about how bad the traffic might be, and when might be best to leave to avoid the worst of it..?
I usually go A30, M5, M4.
Any thoughts ?

I dont think it'll be as bad as you're expecting, an awful lot of the holiday makers have already gone from down this way today and yesterday

That's very good to hear - I've been planning to leave at about 4.30 am, but could really do with a few hours sleep in my own bed....
The other alternative was to leave here (St Austell) at around 6.00 pm but I'd like to see my mum and at 87 she's not often up at 11.00 pm...

Hope you got through before the prang that's all but closed the M5 near Exeter.

FWIW, on the rare occasions I head up to Lungdung, I do the A303 and take my time. Fewer rissoles on the 303 than the motorways IMO&E!

I set off a little later than expected, around 7.15 this morning - roads were empty, and didn't get much busier so I was here at Mums by 11.45, having stopped for a pee and a coffee.
Having left Cornwall a week ago, when there was a 40 mile rolling tailback heading towards Cornwall I was a little concerned, as was my backside - it's seen enough of the car seat for a few days..!
