How annoying is this...

I was just playing a game on my computer and then all of a sudden my windows XP just decided to ****** up and needs a re-install. If I would of known this to happen I would of backed up my pictures!!!!

Have you tried running the Windows XP setup through to the recovery console? I've found this to bring apparently dead OSes back to life many times.

If that doesn't work there may be more options if you post more details about the problem.

Don't forget you can also install windows to a new HDD and run your old drive as a slave to retain your images, as long as the file system is intact.

Windows being gone doesn't mean your images are gone. Get an expert on the case.

If you have access to another machine download a linux live CD and use it to put your files onto a USB stick or something.
