Yes
For David Haye, our world heavyweight champ :clap::clap:
Missed it last night due to partying but will catch up and watch later.

I must admit I'm rather pleased for him. I'm not a fight fan and didn't know until I saw your post. I can well imagine he was technically superior, but it takes a lot of courage to get into a ring with an opponent as big as that!

I can remember the days when the whole country would of sat down to watch that. It seems to have passed by most of us.

What channel was it on?

BRING BACK BIG EVENTS TO THE BBC AND ITV.

I watched it on Sky Box Office.

The fight wasn't all that exciting - though I was glued to it. The sheer size difference between Haye and Valuev was unbelievable. Haye broke his right hand on Valuev's face in Round 2, but somehow managed to keep going for another 10. Valuev was made to look like a lumbering idiot, with no boxing ability whatsoever. He didn't look at all like a Heavyweight champion next to Haye.

Haye's tactics were excellent - strike quickly and move away - and above all, not getting hit himself. The Sky commentators, Jim Watts and Ian Darke, called the whole fight wrong - they thought that Haye hadn't shown enough aggression in the fight and had him down as losing the fight by 4 points. On the contrary, Haye played the game beautifully - so long as he was hitting Valuev (if only occasionally) and not getting hit himself, he would be the one winning rounds. As it happened, Haye won 116-112, 116-112 and 114-114. His corner were completely confident at the end of round 10, and Haye was coming out as fresh as a daisy.

To trade toe-to-toe with Valuev would perhaps have been a mistake, but Haye showed he has enormous punching power when he sent Valuev stumbling into the ropes in Round 12. It was a fantastic punch - though not very clean - and for a few seconds, Valuev looked like he didn't know where he was. Haye never got hit by any punch that did that to him. He dominated with tactics, speed and - in the end - power. I'll be very excited to watch his future fights.
