Brings back some memories from the 1970s. The hovercraft service ran from Ramsgate to Calais taking between 45 minutes to an hour. Turnaround was half hour to 45 minutes. Very efficient service in the summer but had plenty of cancellations in winter months with high tides, high winds and torn skirts.
There were three hovercraft, Princess Anne, Princess Margaret and St Christopher. The first two were originals, and their popularity led to them being cut in half and extended. The one above was last to enter service. The company finally went bust due to the oil crisis, reliability issues and fierce competition from larger ferries operating the Dover - Calais route. Managed to travel on all three vessels during their heyday.
PS. Looks a good scan with accurate colours
