I'm basically lookin for a tilthead with a hotshoe connector at either end (one for the flash & one so it can sit on the camera).
The lastolite one (Prod code 2422) I looked at only has one for the flash.
Is there another tilthead that would do the job for a D700 & probably a SB900.

I want to have the flash centred on the camera without resorting to handholding it if thats possible. Is there another alternative?

Well as the flexible tilthead doesn't seem to be out there I was looking for something like this pic, rather than an L bracket at a reasonable price but am struggling to find anything so I guess my googling skills are slightly off today

Thanks for posting the picture - I hadn't thought of that idea!

I already had the 143BKT and the other two bits are due tomorrow. :)

If you haven't ordered your bits yet, I'll let you how well it works - tomorrow evening.
 
The bits came early, so:

It all fits together well. The flexible arm appears to be the same one. It's easily up to the weight of the flash.
There's another one available that's slightly longer.
(The Manfrotto parts are much longer!)

Speaking of which, be aware that:

1. the plate, spigot and arm weigh around 400g

2. the flash is obviously further forward and this shifts the balance of the whole thing to the front.
- so it feels heavy, but then I'm using a D3 and SB-900 ....

3. If you're not using a lens with a tripod foot as in the picture, the only way to mount this on a tripod
is the thread in the spigot, which is offset.
 
How are you connecting the SB900 to the top of the arm? (I haven't bought mine yet - I was pricing up all the bits and pieces to go with it so that I could buy them all in one go rather than faff around adding bits here & there)
 
Wouldn't an L Flash bracket be simpler and also chaeper than buying all the above bits? The advanatage also with an L bracket is that you can still keep the flash central in Portrait. Just wondering !!

For the moment, I'm using the (small) part of an EZbox that the flash clips into - it has a quarter inch thread.
This means I have to use my SU-800 as a wireless commander.
(I've loaned my SC-28 cable to a mate and I'll use that in preference when I get it back.)
The flash end of the SC-28 has a quarter inch thread underneath, too.

Maybe, but I'm just intrigued by the flexible arm idea
