Hot shoe recommendation please

I have obtained a Hakuba LH1 bracket and a Manfrotto 482 mini ball head to support my 580EXII.

With my 7D, I wont need a flash cord, but what is the best hot shoe fitting available to enable the 580EXII to fit on to the ball head?

If you're using the 7D to trigger why do you need a hot shoe? Surely you want a cold shoe. From the look of the thing on eBay it appears to come with one....

Hi Tim. As I'm an intellectual pygmy as fas as flash is concerned, I didnt know that a cold shoe existed :bonk: but now you mention it, that's what I need.

The ebay pic shows a mini ball head attached to the LH1, but this head is all but useless according to the previous owner so this was dumped, hence the Manfrotto 482 on the scene.

Doh! Sorry, not adding 2+2 correctly. So the 482 has no QR platform, just a tripod screw mount. Can you simply screw that into the little plastic foot that came with the flash and then use the foot as your cold shoe?

You might need to tape the flash into place or add a shim of paper/card/tape to hold it good and tight.

there's a screw hole in the bottom of the plastic foot??? I've never noticed it before. I'm such a numpty. Thanks for the help Tim
