The last time they cancelled on the morning of the event :shake:

They don't fly in adverse weather, for reasons which should be obvious.

I did ground crew and retrieve for two flights at the Bristol balloon fiesta the weekend before last. On one evening it was 50/50 whether they'd all take off for the mass ascent with a couple of hours to go, but the wind eased and off they went.

Ahhh, I will be in Turkey, would have gone up to see that.

There wasn't any "adverse" weather, the grass was still a wee bit damp from the night before though, does that count? :D

Correct...It was a calm as I have seen it last year, and they cancelled 10 mins before take off:cuckoo:
I have been on four times to this event and never seen the balloonists get out from hut where they get their rolls and sausage.

.................

I'll post a weather report on Saturday morning asap early

nothing expert - just stick my head out the window.....

I'm considering going along. Will look out for the weather report. Sticking a head out of a window will be much more accurate than anything the BBC reports :)

Saturday morning 6:45AM

Reigniting and old thread....this is on this weekend and I'm going to go up for the 6pm flight tonight, where is the best location to get a landscape/wide angle shot? Ie is there a high viewing point that I can get the sunset on the skyline?

Johnnie-on-the-spot weather report.....:)

Any tips for getting a decent shot? Somewhere that's not mental trying to get parked [emoji23]

I've never 'done' the balloon day ....:(

see 3rd shot post #14....?

I will go up a bit earlier and try and find a decent location, hopefully something with a good vantage point
