Does anyone use a professional site for hosting your sports pics which people can look at and order from so you don't have to organise it? (I am sure there is a more technical term - sorry!!)
Is it worth going down this route or is their mark up / hire just too big to make it worthwhile?
I saw in another site somewhere I could upload all my pics for £20 and then people access from home and buy over the net. Wondered if this is viable

Thanks

Zenfolio.

To run a pro a/c costs about £80pa. Unlimited uploads, ability to set your own margins, social network integration etc etc. It uses Photobox for fulfilment or you can self fulfill.

How are you using Zenfolio Gary if you dont need it to sell pics? - Do you use it as a virtual album for potential clients? Would you consider using it to sell or do you use another system?

I use Photoshelter which is very configurable and geared towards sales of commercially rights managed electronic images (very flexible pricing engine).

I also use Smugmug for events and non-sports stuff which is excellent and very configurable, but lacks a UK print fulfillment facility so I customised my own with PayPal.

I use Photoshelter as well (link in my signature), fantastic feature-set, you couldn't ask for more, but at £200ish quid a year it's not cheap; depends what you need really.

I dont need to sell images, thats all handled by my agency, this is just a display medium.

I definitely recommend Zenfolio. Really simply to use, can set up so people can order prints, lots of flexibility. Can send you over a referral code if you decide to go down that route, you get 10% off :)

I use Photobox. Once you have registered (free) you can set up a pro user account (again free) Once you have set up a pro user account you can create a web site with a link to your photos (ie: photoboxgallery.com/my*ic****s1*3) you can set your own selling price and customers can view and order from the site. Photobox take a 10% handling fee on top of the print costs so for example if you sell an 8 x 6 print for say £6.50, you will make £5.05 out of the sale. Payment to you is made through paypal and takes around 14 days to get into your paypay account.

thanks Graham - seems the cheapest option so far

No problem, I use it for a few different things I have going on ie: a wedding site, a sport site (not used at moment due to injury) and a schools site, recently photographed every class in around 30 schools for St Davids Day (kids dressed in Welsh costume for the local press) link printed in paper for parents to buy prints. Works for me, parents order prints over the internet photobox do all the work I get the money.

I use Photium. The web layout is very flexible, easy to use and it has every feature you could ever wish for.

Their support is brilliant too.

Photoshelter and Smugmug here. Both quite pricey, but image quality is superb on smugmug and a lovely interface. Photoshelter is the most complete photo organisation/stock site available. Its not quite there yet, but its constantly being developed and frankly it makes file handling with customers so easy.
