Horsemeat found in IKEA meatballs

That's the comment I was going to post when all I could see was the title!

Steve.

Ikea make meatballs?

Oh I see...It's a restaurant!
Closest you used to get with MFI was a burger wagon in the car park....
I've never been to Ikea.

not just the restaurant they have a food store where you can get bags of frozen meatballs.

Are they flat packed with a rubbish diagram though?:)
Alternatively

"Where do past it flat racers end up?

I was wondering earlier today whether the likes of MuckDonalds and b****r Kink had their "beef" tested? I also wondered where KFC sourced their chicken.

You know what all this meat controversy should really be telling us ...

horse meat tastes good, lets eat more of it.

Soon it will be news that a beef product contained some beef

Not sure about kfc and burger king but mc d's have there own farms, or dedicated farms that they buy direct from.

It's all well and good buying from their own farms but do they keep tabs on their meet all the way from the field to the restaurant?
Maybe it gets bulked up by whatever meat the abattoir has at hand?

ikea meat balls really are the dogs [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER]

B+Q are getting dragged into the Meat Scandal.....
They're Wood Flooring actually has Lamb in it!

Wonder if anyone will complain to Tesco/Ikea complaining that they would like their original receipt because their burgers/meatballs don't taste as good.

Unlucky fried kitten !

( when i was at college in crewe a local curry house was done trying to pass off rabbit as chicken )

OMG! I just ate the meatballs in Ikea, in fact i still have a bit in my mouth :)

In all seriousness, I'm with Joe on this one, so what, I know they should have labelled it a horse meat but no one complained about it before it came to light. No big issue in my eyes.

I completely agree....I have no problem with horse meat per se. What I do have a little bit of a problem is some of the possible drugs present in the meat derived from unregulated sources. But even then only a bit (though having personal experience of handling Bute, you don't want to mess with that stuff  )

All this horse meat scare has done is push the price of other meats up. I've eaten horse meat in France tastes fine to me.

I've eaten it here. There's restaurant in Sevenoaks serves it (or at least used to).

I think you are missing the point. If its found its way in what else has? Where did the horses come from? Were they diseased? Were banned drugs for human consumption used in the horses? etc.....

I'm over that way next week, may have to see if I can find one.

I'll make a couple of phone calls, see if I can find out for you.

Has any health issues come to light from eating said meat?

(Serious question. I mean the food standards lot are normally pretty hot on something that causes an issue so would've been picked up if it caused an issue?)

Oh I do hope not - its bad enough having found horse meat in them - if they've now found they are made from doggies gonnads there will be an uproar ! lol

Human exposure to 'Bute is cumalative and long term; so I belive it would take a long time for any issues to arise.

I also think that some folk have way too much faith in the voracity of the FSA :D

No, I'm not missing the point, I have eaten them for several years, I'm here, not dead not had any issues, the bute issue was raised last week or the week before, to get a human dose you would have to had eaten 5- 600 quarter pounders in one day.

I do hope you're right, because as someone who worked in a show yard 25 years ago, we were not even allowed to get that carp on our skin, never mind ingest it.

The wife and I have been saying that for weeks. If its cheap, where can we get some? Who knew the answer was Ikea.

Dave, I'm not going on media stories, I'm going on experience :D

I'd imagine direct contact (absorption through skin) would have more of an impact than consuming meat that was once an animal treated with it?

For example if you ate part of me you wouldn't get the full dose of ibuprofen I took this morning.
