Week 5 - Hard

When I heard the theme 'Hard'. Titanium immediately sprang to mind.

A metal first discovered in cornwall, it is produced by a very difficult (or HARD) 2 step batch process. It has the highest strength to weigh ratio of any metal, twice as steel but half the weight. Few people know how abundant titanium is but unfortunately the difficult manufacturing process makes it uneconomical to use more freely. Its use is reserved mainly for aircraft and medical purposes. However over 10 years ago, Nokia used this metal to create a mobile phone whose style and elegance I find striking and still to this date believe it is the nicest phone designed. So I bring to you week 5. Hard! Hope you like it :)

Cheers mate, I sourced them at a cost and I love them too.
They weren't used in the matrix though, hehe, although everyone thinks that. The one in the Matrix was an 8110 :) This phone was used in Transporter (2?) and Bad Boys!!

These phone still look stylish, and I like the thinking behind the theme, as for the final image - I think you've nailed that too.

I just love that phone, the design is unbeatable to me!

This was the set up, sorry about the quality, I used a Nikon. Don't worry I wore gloves. Hehe.

Haha, noooo the original shot was with a 7D
The setup shot was with a iPhone but because the quality was bad I said it is a Nikon as a joke.
I have currently fostered a 7D to see if I like it. :)
 
I'm not sure that Dark Side rules allow me to say nice things about a pic taken with a Canon;) , but that's a great shot, and would be great for either the "Style" or "Hard" theme.

Very well composed and I really like the silver background. You've caught some good detail and I like the DOF with one phone in focus and the other OOF.

If I'm being picky I would say you need a bit more sharpness - did you use a tripod? Also I find your copyright logo slightly OTT and distracts a bit from the image.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for your comments, it was hand shot at ISO 100 with no IS etc so it may be a bit out :( I think it was at F5.6 and the focus point was on the keypad, I couldn't get a higher one on the camera!!
 
Had a long week! But managed to snap this, they all rushed towards the clutter and created a clutter!! Haha

I like the way you have processed the photo and captured some of the colour in the birds.

What a fab shot! :thumbs: Very original (always good!) and pretty sharp too for animals that just don't stop moving EVER. Nice colours too! :)
 
Haha, thanks all. Yeah it was hard to get them not moving! Especially for someone like me who doesn't know a thing about shooting birds!!
 
Finally my photo for Week 7! A delicate flower, they were open yesterday but during the morning and cold they are closed up which is nice! Not sure what they are though :) Look forward to your comments!!
