Hope's Project 52 (2011) Week 7 Finally added!

Cracking second shot... love the DOF and the lighting.

Well done

You've lit that very well, really brings out the texture, thats another thumbs up from me

Great shot Hope :thumbs: love the lighting effect as well :) it was a toughy this week and you did good

Great start to the photo52! Congrats on your new gear. I remember too well how guilty I felt moving from my trusty Minolta 5D to my Nikon last year. You'll soon get over it, lol!

Yeah, I don't think so  I'll always feel guilty :D

Thanks everyone for your kind comments, this was new to me in another way too as it was my first ever 'Macro' shot. Lit with my trusty Maglite :) Your comments really 'light my fire!!' :D, strictly my photography fire.

This is a fantastic shot (and i'm speaking with jealousy here as i'm still saving up to upgrade from my 450D!). The DOF is great and i think the angle of the shot is perfect

Thanks mate, appreciate it. 450D is a nice camera! Stop moaning haha.

It was SUPPOSED to be the last shot, but at the minute my 60D has yet to be used by me, as
A) I can't tear myself away from the 40D,
B) Someone has discovered the wireless flash function and is experimenting with my 60D :D

What are you thinking of going to?

Wasn't sure about your first shot. The jaunty angle put me off a bit, but that's just personal preference.

Really like your second one, where the jaunty works well. It is also well lit, with spot on DOF. Cracker.

No problem, great photo :) Haha, yeah i know the 450D is a nice camera, i'm not moaning, its just pure jealousy!!!! The trouble is i know when it comes to it i won't want to sell my 450D.....lol! :(

Finally! I present Week 3!
It is one of those, God I wish I had my tripod shots!! :D

Thats a brilliant shot  haha the amount of times i wish i had a tripod with me and didn't - i know exactly what you mean! Love the colours - those elephants have definitely got style!

Those elephants are different. Its a shame the background isn't a bit more interesting.

Good effort without a tripod.

Another great shot Hope! I quite like the way the ornate elephants are surrounded by an everyday urban environment. Where are these?

That has made a really nice image for style, good use of DoF, as to the tripod that used to be my issue also, now it is strapped to my backpack all the time just in case it is needed.

Haha. If I strapped my tripod to my backpack I'd be dragging it along the floor:D

Week 4 is here
I decided to crack open an old hard drive and display its guts for the OPEN theme.
I piece of technology that each and everyone of us use and rely on

Hiya Hope,

Just realised I haven't commented on your week 3 yet, so I have some catching up to do here.

Week 3: Wow those are some mighty stylish ellies, love the colours. Agree with the comments made about the background, and the image is a little dark. But a great take on the theme. Thanks for the link, I will check that out as Bolton isn't too far from me, so perhaps I can go and see these some time.

Week 4: Excellent  I had never seen the inside of a hard drive, so thanks. Lovely colours and detail and like the angle you took this to get some DOF. Coming to think of it, you could have also used this image for this weeks theme - HARD.

Great stuff and I look forward to seeing what else you produce over the weeks to come.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Thanks Dawn, I really did wish I had that tripod for shot 3 :( There was me thinking I had it all. They used to be stone elephants, then they put these and they got vandalised, were removed, refurbished and replaced.

I realised I could have used Week 4 for Week 5 but I was all out of ideas for Week 4 and thought it fitted in some how! This week should be ok though. :D Thanks for your kind comments.

I like the idea - but for me it really needs more depth of field I would like to see all of the arm in focus if possible.

Regards

Mike

Completely agree I went from 2.8 to 3.2 but handheld wouldn't allow any more :( as it just got too noisy. Thanks for your criticism though, you're spot on :)

Great idea for the theme Hope but the arm all in focus would be perfect. Nice shot :)

Love the elephants, nice DOF and yes, very stylish :)

I like the tones of the open hard drive, but I too would've been inclined to close the aperture down a touch

I have taken your comments on board for this weeks shot, hopefully the aperture will be more suitable :)
