Hi Maria

Well done great shot on Style I like it a lot  Looking forward to seeing what other ideas you have up your sleeve :D

Hi Maria

Just dropping in to say 'good luck' with your 52, and you've made a cracking start (no pun intended from week 1!:))

Week 1: A great take on the theme, and I like the mono treatment. :)

Week 2: I love the contrast between the shiny new "countryman" and the dreary, urban location of what looks like West Quay car park. Yes, there are a few minor tweaks you could have dealt with, but without causing a major traffic jam, I think you did brilliantly.

Week 3: You're definitely keeping up the level of creativity in interpreting the themes, and this certainly made me smile. Beryl Cook would have certainly wanted you for a model! (She was very shy and shunned publicity.) A lovely cheerful pic for dreary January.

Hi Maria,

Week 1- simple but brilliant

Week 2 great idea but do agree that it would have been better with the driver hidden....it just distracts a bit.

Week 3...oh my!! You are one brave lady!! I love the idea of you becoming part of the picture...it has a real Alice in Wonderland type feel!! I don't think I would ever be brave enough to take a self portrait never mind an implied nude one! Hats off to you. Love it.

Can't wait to see your idea for next time!!

Hi Maria, your week 3 is a fantastic shot - very creative.

This is such a great shot I'm loath to crit, but... a bit more sharpness around your eyes/face would be good (but I know from bitter experience how hard that is with a self portrait.)

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for week 4

Yeah, I agree great photograph with loads of appeal and a nice cheeky storyline.

Cheers.

thank you.... but I didn't think you could see my cheeks!!! ;)
That is a cracker

My own sorry submission makes me crawl with embarrassment.

Yours is quirky, amusing and on the nail in composition  Well done!

thanks Tina, I've just seen your week 4 - and I'm struggling this week! :'(

thanks Jean, I'm trying to be as creative as possible with my shots and attempting to try something new and different every week - thank goodness there's so much inspiration from other TP members on here :) (and I'd have loved to be a BC model ;) )

Week 3 is so out of the box :) Love your style ;)

yes, I completely agree about the focus - there's another on my flickr which actually is in focus, but I don't like the expression or pose quite as much. thank you for your comments :)

Week 3 is absolutely fantastic - well done, brilliant shot!

thanks!

I can't believe we're at week 4 already!!!

my 'open' shot this week is of the cloisters at salisbury cathedral which is one of my favourite places. There is a beautiful feeling of openness and light when you walk round especially when the sun is out :)

Taken this evening just after dusk, exif is on my flickr.

Hiya Maria

OOOO! I like that very much! However I would have cropped a lot of the black from the bottom.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Yes Maria fab shot  but agree with above a little trim of the black and you have a perfect shot ;)

maria, i do like the exposure on low light come night shots. the blue is brilliant because (on my screen) i can see green in the 'black' dawn and James mention. Maybe a little off the bottom, as the vicar said to the hairdresser ;o) but not much round the back please.. :D

still liking your 52 ;)

I really like the image too but agree with the others about cropping the bottom, Just looked through your others of 52, Really nice images and on theme. Good luck with the rest

Love your Style shot, I did a semi nude SP this week too. However, my DOF was far more forgiving than yours ;)

Love this weeks cathedral too, and would include myself in the bottom cropping :D

thanks Dawn :D, and yes I think you're right... there is a bit too much black nothingness at the bottom, I've just not got round to doing it yet ;)

thank you Mr G

A beautiful image, I love the light and the colours. I would also suggest cropping some off the bottom.

thanks Tina, I'll have a go and post the cropped version under the original :)

thank you Marts :)

I love the play of light on the columns, Maria. The whole effect is beautiful, and makes me feel ashamed I've never taken photographic advantage of this beautiful cathedral on our doorstep!

btw - I agree with the bottom-croppers, but only a tiny bit, please! :)

Jean

shame on you Jean!!!! I'll pm you when I'm next going, and thank you for the lovely comment :)

thank you, it was a bit of a leap of faith to be honest, but I had fun doing it :)

really enjoyed this weeks theme - I had the idea at the weekend for it and have only just had the chance to put it into practice today.

I've got a really geeky mineral collection which came in very handy..... and it's 7 on the Mohs scale of hardness!!! ;)

lit by a single LED light to immediate left with some shade cast at the base, item placed on a black velvet cloth and shot with 18-55 kit lens, & Raynox 250. processed in PSE8 - sharpened, increased blacks & contrast, cropped, and slight increase in exposure. White balance on auto - full exif is on my flickr.

That's beautiful, and how fitting for week 5! :)

Great shot Maria!
The contrast and sharpness are really good! I would have to agree with you that it is shame that it is not a diamond!

Keep them coming!

Rayna

Thats really cool, I love the way its refracted the light from the LED through itself. So what sort of mineral is it Maria?

nicely shot, maybe not lit quite enough (for me!!), but a nice take on the subject and well captured

That would be great. I really need to get out and snap something different. :)

Hard: I confess I had to Google the Mohs Scale! Your rock certainly qualifies for the theme. I love all the facets and how they reflect or absorb light. I think the black background adds to the effect. Very nicely done, Maria. :)

Jean

Hiya Maria,

Wow that is one gorgeous gem. Is it clear quartz?

Love the way the light dances through the facets and the dark background compliments the image well. Nice DOF too.

Good job

Cheers

Dawn :)

I've been totally uninspired by the last 2 weeks topics... 'clutter' is just too much like home and I don't want any photographic evidence in case I incriminate myself! and I can't seem to get my hear round week 7 ..... :'(

My inspiration for week 8 is one of my dogs - Scrumpy the Labradoodle  She is just coming up to 2 years old, however, she has not in any way, shape or form grown up one little jot from that little scrap of a puppy we brought home in 2009. For her it's still surprise whenever she sees her refection in the window!:lol: Bless her, she is a little darling and very sweet natured... but... she is (and I sincerely apologise about this as I myself am a 'wanna-be' blonde) utterly and totally a complete blonde airhead!!! She has no focus whatsoever and cannot keep still for a single second... hence she fitted in beautifully with the 'chaos' theme (and we normally refer to her as 'dit-dot' or 'the tornado')

hope you like!!! (exif is on my flickr, and it looks a whole lot better on there!)

Great DOG shot... one of the best i've seen... conveys chaos well.... its in her eyes!!!!

That is one great shot. I love the colour, energy, composition. Great DOF which adds hugely to the pic. Good sharpness in the eyes.

Perfect for the theme.

Brilliant!

She does look like she'd invite chaos into most people's lives  Beautiful dog

Wow, love this one - great capture!!! :D

'tis a good one, I'm really draw to here eyes.

Great detail and really like the two water trails coming from here ears...
