Hong Kong equipment suppliers

I have bought quite a few things from these places and well as long as you are prepared to wait the long postage times then everthing should be fine, I personally have not had a problem.

I too have had a few items for Hong Kong. You'll find most of them do their best to make sure you dont get hit for import taxes, usually marking items as a 'gift' on the form. That way, their items are still cheaper and they might get return business.

I have found that the postage times are not always that bad, but a weekend will slow it down alot more than in the UK.

Your problem is if something goes wrong and you decide to send it back. POstage to HK isnt that cheap, and the seller wont refund you that.

What is it your looking at buying??

I ordered a lens hood. It took 3wks to arrive but was exactly as described, well packaged etc. From memory the seller was phoebeg or something similar. I have since ordered a couple of other small items but I'm not sure I would use them for more expensive stuff - just in case.

For new Lenses I would try OSD 1st (no tax etc as they refund) thats if there isn't anyone selling on TP (used in exc cond) that is..

For minor gear overseas aint too sad - thats if you dont mind waiting a couple of weeks for delivery...

edit: Would NOT go with HKBNS thou as I got stung a while ago for import tax (then I found OSD)

I've ordered a few cheaper items from HK off the Flee-Bay and havn't really had a problem. Delivery time can be hit and miss and Ive never been charged any import tax. I'd be very weary about ordering anything of value from there.

Hi thanks for the replies, well Im looking at the Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L , but I just feel a bit nervous about spending that sort of money with a dealer so far away, like you say the returns could be a real headache if there had to be any

Cheers

Based on that, i would say no, dont buy from HK etc. I'd want somewhere that is easily accesible to speak to someone or to return an item. thats just not viable over eBay and such long distances.

But of course, thats just me!

Digitalrev have a london office they use for returns (actually someone's flat I think) but it works well. I had to return a Sigma 50-500 with a stuck zoom ring, and they replaced it fairly quickly.

i've bought filters on ebay from various hk sellers, mainly as their prices are much cheaper than uk sellers, the latest being cameraking(digital rev)never been hit for import duties, nowt to go wrong with filters though, latest took 9 days from winning the action to receiving it today

Thanks for all the advice and input, Ive just ordered the lens from Kerso , that sort of money just felt too risky to spend with a company basically on the otherside of the world dam near, Im sure there was probably nothing to worry about, but I just kept getting a feeling knowing my ***** luck

Are you saying that CameraKing is DigitalRev? This cameraking "cameraking"...

Regularly order from Hong Kong, faster service than Uk suppliers, in one case unobtainable in the UK unless you wanted to pay RRP prices, got it form HK in 3 days at 2/3 UK price. However I do have all my gear insured anyway so returns don't come into the equation. I would even mention that a well known high street national retailer in Cannock Staffs branch tried to pass off to me a used Nikon D300 as new. Anyone buying for the first time would have been caught out , and its no joke on a £1000+ purchase.

Cube cart is a free shopping cart system to sell stuff. Its a bit like clikpic, all the designs look the same.

Gotcha - never heard of either if I was honest - but always worth to know these things , just incase.....

Only ever got cheap stuff like cable releases, batteries and super cheap Lucky film. Never had a problem with anything and never had anything take more than a week to 10 days to arrive!
