Ok. First, am I right in thinking this programmer can't be set to switch the boiler off in auto mode other than turning the temperature target down to a value that means it probably won't fire up? Secondly, What is the radio signal icon in the top right hand corner of the screen that flashes occasionally indicating? Thirdly, is there any indicator on the programmer that shows it is out of radio range of the receiver?

I see no way of turning it off in auto Neil, neither can I see any indication of a wireless signal icon in the top right corner, onbly a battery low indicator. As for distance it should be good for 30 meters, so unless you stick the reciever out in the garden I would have thought there was no cause to worry about that.

Correct, that's the whole point of being able to set different temperature targets for different times of the day, you leave the boiler on all the time and the thermostat controls when it fires.

It means it's transmitting to the receiver

You should test this yourself when you perform the installation. Put the stat in the location where you will use it. Use the temperature control on the stat to turn the desired temperature up to 30C or more so the boiler has to come on. The radio signal icon will flash on the stat. Wait. See if the little green light on the receiver comes on, which will mean that boiler will fire up. If it doesn't come on, then the stat is out of range of the receiver (you WILL have first checked that they are both on the same radio channel by performing the same test while standing next to the receiver holding the stat).

Note - I am not a plumber. If in doubt, consult a qualified professional rather than some bloke on the internet. I did install one of these in my own home a couple of months ago though and it is working.
