Honeymoons

I had to wait a while for my honeymoon but we went to Cuba... fantastic place stayed in Havana for 3 days and then at a beach resort for the following 11 but plenty to do outside of the resort.
I had a friend who's just visited and loved it. Will suggest it to the missus.

bad choice of wording on my part... however, if you had said earlier on, may have got some more favourable answers?
Lol okay. I did put an advert in jobs section. Like I said, haven't travelled much. I think the missus is now leaning more towards mauritius and seychelles. GOK why but I don't think she's keen on the idea of Maldives.

Has anyone been to thailand, mauritius or seychelles?

Spent a couple of weeks on Mauritius a few years ago and loved it. We stayed at the Grand Gaub resort at the north end of the island. There are some very exclusive resorts on the east coast, some have thier own offshore islands. Port Louis is a good visit with colourful spice markets. The deep water fishing is superb with lots of Marlin trips.

My son and daughter in law just did a fantastic cruise for their honeymoon. Not the usual liner, but on a tall ship. The company they used is called Starclipper and they run the cruises round the Med in summer and the Caribbean in winter. Prices are pretty identical for both but obviously it costs more for the flights to get to the start point.

I'm getting married in six weeks too btw. We've booked our honeymoon in Positano on the Amalfi coast.

I would suggest to have another think of the order of the locations. We did the "quiet beach" week first followed by an more active week there after. It worked well for us to chill and relax following the wedding and the huge party surrounding it.

We did ten days in Mauritius, used the Le Toussrok resort which was absolutely fabulous. Helicopter transfer from airport was only £75 extra at the time through our carrier Carrier. Maybe a nice surprise for your bride to be :)

The for the second part we planned a African Safari.

Carrier were fantastic organising the lot for me with some super quality options.

Thinking about it, maybe I should renew our vows and have an excuse for a second honeymoon.

Just to update:

I think in the end it boiled down to either Mauritius or Maldives. What pushed it towards Maldives was the individual villas and the privacy with it.

Now just need to work out what to pack, so I know what to buy.

Have you considered South Africa? A week in Eastern Cape = Indian Ocean.... then a 2 hr internal flight to Cape Town for a week in the Western Cape / wine route?

There's a brochure / company called Portfolio

They have a selection of mostly independent guesthouses (nothing like a B&B here!) The exchange rate is currently quite favourable at 16-17 Rand to the £, and no jetlag as going up and down, not round and round...
