Hi,
Thankyou for taking a look at my thread..!
I am new to photography... used to be a commercial model but decided that being behind the lens looked much more interesting!

I am a complete amature and have owned my Nikon D3100 for only a couple of months..!
Im hoping there are some friendly photographers out there that would be able or willing to help me

Im wanting my own personal home studio to practise portraits... we are talking about a backdrop i can pack away after use.
I have two children and currently another on the way.. because of this im obsessed with child photography and whats better than than practising on my own little monkeys!

Im on a budget as its only a hobbie at this moment in time but obveously want to get the right bits to start off with..

I have my nikon D3100 but thats it...
I would like a backdrop but very confused on which lighting is best for my budget?
Also flashgun?

Many thanks :)

Have a search on the forum for similar threads, there's loads of information to help you get started.

You could also have a look at Lighting 101 as it's a good tutorial to start using "off camera flash" which is what you'll be doing with your studio.

It's easy to spend a lot of money on flash and studio equipment and then realise you really wanted something different.

I would be tempted to put a post in the Meeting PLace forum asking if some people local to you would let you try their set up. People are ususally pretty friendly and helpful on here and willing to help out.
