We're getting one of our walls replastered next week (water ingress) which gives me an opportunity to rip off the existing very pale wallpaper. I can then re-skim as needed and paint a nice grey colour. I might even tell SWMBO before I do it
Did you ever use the room with a projector - if so, I'd definitely recommend non-white ceiling and walls as the light rebound from modern projectors really kills the contrast in my experience. It's one of the reasons I want to change the colours for our room.
