Yes
I've been living away from family and friends for 9.5 years now and I must say that this is the first time I've ever felt home sick!

It's Chinese New Year on Sunday. Since I left university and started working in 2001, I've always gone back home for CNY which is always around January/February time. This year, I decided not to go back for CNY because I was just back in Malaysia in June.

Seemed like a good idea then. I would catch up on my holidays to other places this year since I spent most of my leave going back to Malaysia last year (5 weeks in total) and didn't really get a holiday visiting new places.

But now, I am home sick. :'(

Guess it's my own fault. :bonk: I won't be repeating this mistake next year.

Ah yes, home is where the heart is, and I guess your's is in Malaysia.(?)

Hey Kamion

Sorry to hear about your dilemma...When you long for home nothing else will do eh? :shake:

But help me with this...What is the link between Malaysia and CNY?

Sorry to hear that Kamion. Do you have any plans to celebrate the CNY with friends etc?

It's at times like this when you really miss family and friends at home. I moved away from my home town about 18 months ago and have only just stopped feeling homesick, but it always creeps back at times like Xmas / New Year. It's only normal to want to spend those times with loved ones.

Richmond, Anton - Yes, I'm from Malaysia. Ethnic Chinese. The Malaysian population is composed of roughly 20% Chinese, 15% Indians and the rest is the local people.

Yes, min. I'm going down to London later today to have a "reunion" dinner with some friends. The reunion dinner is held on New Year's eve and usually, we go home to our families to have dinner.

Will probably go to Chinatown tomorrow to nose around and take some photos of the festivities. :D

Just called home and my parents are going for dinner with my mom's siblings. My sisters have married off so they will have to attend the reunion dinner with their husbands family. The tradition is that wives are not allowed to go back to their own families until the second day of CNY, but I think my sisters will be back with my parents tomorrow (first day of CNY). :D

Thanks KAM

Hope thing work out for you and you have a great time despite the absence of family!!
