Yes
just wondering how/what you guys n gals charge for a portrait session in someones home.
we dont do much , aiming mostly at wedding work. but were getting a few more enquiries lately. she charges(at the mo) £40 for around an hour. prints charges on top of that.
i think shes too cheap, but she reckons some others charge less.
my arguement being if they dont buy many prints .£40 for travel setup and shoot isnt much.i think she should be aiming at a package of , say,£100 including X number of prints.
opinions please.

£40 is a pathetic price to charge to be honest and I cannot see how this is at all profitable. Maybe that person doesn't want to profit from this, but for £40; how do you include petrol, time, materials, setting up, taking the shots, packing away - nah!

If the client is say just 10 miles away, at RAC motoring rates (£1 per mile) that's approx £20 there and back in terms of motoring costs alone.

A price package that includes prints is the way to go.

Depends on how much work is involved when there too.

If they know what they want, have the rooms nice and tidy to work on then fine. Otherwise you can be there for ages just setting up // getting them organised.

I charge for time driving @ £50 per hour, therefore break that down into a two-way journey.

Usually I say £50 per hour for the shoot, plus a booking fee of £25. Also charge for PP work.

£25 fee is taken off the final order of pictures.
