I ordered some chemicals to try and establish a bit of a stockpile for developers, one of the chemicals that kept cropping up in recipes was Borax. (used to be a good flux for aluminum and forge welding of dissimilar metals IIRC.) As part of the process I have been sent a form which states Borax Decahydrate is a restricted chemical and what is my intended purpose for its use.

Why is this item restricted, have I ordered the wrong thing?

I bought some borax from boraxdirect.co.uk in March 2024 and wasn't asked to state it's use. I don't know why some suppliers ask and some don't.

It seems that the reason for restriction is due to concerns about risk to reproductive health.
