What exactly is the law in the UK when it comes to growing your own cannabis plant? I'm asking because I passed a tattoo parlour today and they had cannabis seeds advertised on big signs and the shop is full of Shisha pipes (hookah pipe). What exactly would stop me going in and buying myself some seeds to grow at home? or am I missing the point and the signs are taking me for a fool?

PS: I don't want to grow my own weed, I'm just curious because I have never seen seeds advertised before.

I think the 11th commandment applies
"Thall shall not get caught"
:D

It is illegal to grow full stop.

However

If you were caught growing a couple of plants it's unlikely anything would be done.

If you had a rooms in the house full of glow lamps or a massive greenhouse full it would be different.

"Intent to supply" has a huge effect on potential sentences etc.

A couple of plants might get you a slap on the wrist. Two dozen plants will probably see you "enjoying" a cavity search on B wing.

I remember reading less than year ago about an elderly couple who bought a pot plant (their description) at a boot fair a decade ago because it looked healthy and pretty. Just last year their new neighbours reported the plant (now growing happily in their garden) to the police.

Said gendarmes arrived and confiscated the (now very large) patio plant, and confiscated it. No charges were bought against the elderly couple.

It's a pretty plant.
Grow it.
Just don't smoke it

I'd probably get away with it where I live, only house within six miles into some mountains but I have no interest in that sort of stuff. I was just curious because I saw the seeds being advertised. The only stuff that's been through my shisha pipe is molasses tobacco which is apple flavoured and from Egypt and a nice feature for the man cave lol

I think everyone seems to be growing the stuff these days, at least around here. It might be me and my sensitive snitch but the air always seem to be thick with the stench of stunk no matter where about I am in the town (Folkestone).

There's a new drug in Folkestone then, stunk, is it more potent than skunk.

Did remind me of that time when I was in a night club and there was this dyslexic clubber who went around the place wanting to score some Fs.
I assume you told them to E off then? :D

It's legal to buy seeds. It's legal to buy growing apparatus. It's illegal to combine the two. It's mental considering the state in America that legalised and taxed it in January has already raised fifty million dollars more for public schooling!

I've often suggested legalisation and regulation/taxing of recreational drugs as a way of taking the market away from the illegal stuff difficulty is that the biggest effect of the drug crime still wouldn't go away even if legalised and that's the crime committed to purchase, and the secondary affect addition has on family of addicts etc

i know what you mean, people seem to be smoking it more in public too. ive often been walking along and get a waft from a passer by.

I am often filtering past standing traffic on my motorbike and get a lidfull as folk just sit and smoke it in there car.
