Well, after queuing for nearly an hour for half of my prescription! I'm going to join a home delivery prescription service.

But, which one?

Any votes for a favourite please?
 
My local chemist does deliveries, not got one handy to you who offers this service?
 
Check with your Surgery if they have a preferred one?

No I'm afraid not. Our pharmacy in town is closing down. Next nearest is 7 miles away. Plus as I said, you queue up for an hour and only collect half of what is needed, so you have to return the next day or whenever :(
 
I use Pharmacy2U with whom I have no complaints, but be aware that these services tend to mean upto 7 days between ordering and receiving a prescription drug.

Yes thanks Lindsay. At the moment (we use Lloyds Chemist) it takes roughly 7/10 days to get a repeat anyhow!
 
My local Pharmacy did deliver during lockdown but at the end of that they tried to encourage customers to revert to live pick up. As I need deliveries almost every week, I did agree to revert. It would help if the G.P. surgery, could re-organise my prescriptions so they can be ordered and delivered once every two months instead of being randomly spread. I mentioned this to my G.P. once but he shrugged his shoulders, laughed and moved on. They employ a Pharmacist at the surgery but she only seems to be interested in changing my prescription (reducing) and I had to challenge this. Eventually my G.P. reverted everything to what it was prior to her interference.

Hey Pharmacy - Dead easy and strikes aside, normally here in less than a week from ordering. Can order my repeats in 30 seconds or less. No hassles at all.
 
I just use my local chemist and they're very good. (y)

I have no experience of any other service . . .
 
We just use our local chemist for deliveries.
 
My wife & I use LloydsDirect. They used to be called Echo, and there were various problems with orders.
The only time there are delays now is when items are in short supply.

One item I order has to be refrigerated, so they send it in a big box with freezer packs & insulation round it.
The cost to them must be quite high.
 
Do these use the royal mail, with all the strikes I would be worried if I needed loads of pills.
 
I only live a five minute walk from a Boots Pharmacy so little point in exploring other options.
Scrips get sent straight there and a text lets me know when they are ready to collect.
 
I use Pharmacy2U and am really happy with the service. I can get my medication faster than if I put my prescription in with my surgery. I have a phone app, or I can order online. It's really simple and I get notifications at each stage of the request, authorisation and despatch. They use Royal Mail.

My surgery is a prescribing surgery, so my only other option is to go to the surgery to put my prescription in, wait 7 days and then go and pick it up... so two car journeys and a longer wait.

The only downside is that they're constantly asking me to recommend them to others, which slightly drives me nuts. As it happens, other than my OH, this is the first time I have mentioned it.
 
I ordered a regular prescription on 2nd Jan on-line and it suggested I could collect on the 6th but the Pharmacy had not received it. The pharmicist did give me half quantity to keep me going while they chase the G.P. surgery. I checked on-line today and it had moved from pending to awaiting signature. So what is going on. Many of these drugs cannot be just stopped. Is this part of some scheme to reduce costs?
