Hello everyone! So what exciting holiday plans do you have for this year. I've just booked my flights to Spain to go experience the Hogueras de San Juan in Alicante. I'll also be there during the World Cup, and the whole place will be crazy. Can't wait to get back into the sun and warmth.

So what do you have to look forward to?

Australia & Dubai but not until November. Going to see my son and taking my daughter & son in law this time. Will be staying mostly in Brisbane with a few days in Sydney. I keep doing the lottery to see if I can get out of cattle class but no luck as yet.

Sounds awesome! Will be you taking the camera too?

Only one planned is a trip to Orkney, but I'll be in north west Scotland for a fair bit too.

Southern Spain again for us this year.....I'm going all "Gopro" in an attempt to finally make a decent holiday video. It'll be my first family holiday without my DSLR for a good few years!

No real holiday planned as we are moving in August, plus I have a number of trips back to Ireland over the next while.....maybe a day trip to Reading. ....

2 Crete trips again this year, June and August/September. The June one will be a lazy one, staying in the same hotel for the whole fortnight but the Autumn one will be a mini tour of the Western end, stopping in Chania, Elafonissi and Agia Gallini (IIRC!) All places we have friends in so looking forward to catching up again.

A week in Menorca in June - my partner's birthday and she wants to go away so just a lazy beech/pool/kindle-reading "do-sod-all" holiday.

Then in late Sept/early Oct we're hoping to go to Florida to meet up with friends who live their and go with them to North Carolina for a couple of days, drive across to Memphis and then drive the Mississippi/Louisiana blues trail, ending up in New Orleans.

We did Hong Kong & Australia for 6 weeks last summer, partly following the B&I Lions which cost us a load, so we're working on a bit of a budget this year.

Probably not, last time I went it was a bit of a pain really. I think it will just be the wifes PAS this time. What about you?

I can't not take the camera! Alicante during Las Hogueras is a photo goldmine.

There are the daily parades

4 years since my last 'holiday' which was a rock festival in Bilbao during the world cup.
I've just had a week off dumped on me at short notice for next week, despite having 2 weeks in June already agreed. Really want to take a trip to the US as I've never been. Any tips for a cheap 7 days over there would be appreciated

Not sure about "cheap", but a fly-drive to Miami, then drive to Key West (spend a couple of days driving down and a few days in Key West). It's a fascinating place and, unlike much of the US has "proper" history. Take a fast cat out to Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas.

Going on an organised trip to china in September to see the Great Wall, terracotta warriors and hopefully pandas also.i think and hope it will be a fascinating trip.

Just back from a motorsport road trip in France, going back for a 10 day tour of Brittany in June. Hoping to squeeze a week in Morocco sometime in September too.

fortnight in sapin with the kids during the summer then got a week in cape verde planned for me and the missus in december...she dosnt know a thing about it and will be getting up in the morning for work...cant wait to see her face

Did the same trip a few years ago, if you've never been before get ready for a culture shock. It's a facinating expierience, especially the warriors.

I'd love to do a fly drive, but maybe another day. I've decided to hire a nice lens for next week and stay over here. I do have another fortnight allocated in June, so maybe get to america then, but I might have fallen in love with a bank draining lens by then :D

A week on the Yorkshire coast for us....can't really afford to take the kids abroad during the rip-off season, not this year anyway :)

off la estrait in northern spain went to south spain last year but looking forward to this year we already paid it off and got some euros so really got ahead of ourselves this year so can't wait now few more months then 2full weeks off in the sun and sea

Just back from a great holiday in the Hebrides (Isle of Harris) and we'll be back at our usual holiday cottage on Loch Sunart in October.

Nothing abroad planned this year as my eldest daughter's passport has expired and the three youngest kids don't have one.

Went there 8 years or so ago, had a great time. We did it on a budget and used a budget safari company http://www.chachachabackpackers.com/ if you have not booked already \ on a budget still. We did South Luanga and Lower Zambezi, both great and quite different.

I do remember some funny Visa thing when we landed, it was free I think if you had a reservation somewhere, but they did my wife's incorrectly and we had to sit in an office for 2 hours refusing to bribe someone to increase it before they finally did ours (I'm quite stubborn...) - my point is check the visa expiry when they stamp it.

Not sure what we are doing this year, 3 year old and 10 week old make travelling on planes a little harder, and certainly more expensive. Hopefully France but might leave abroad for next year when the youngest is a bit older.

Already been away for three weeks this year to Singapore, Bangkok, Saigon, Da Nang, Halong Bay and Hong Kong. Come late summer we're off to the Amalfi coast. Never been before and looking forward to that.

Halkidiki next Sunday, staying in the Sani region at what looks like and hopefully turns out to be a superb hotel. Can't blummin wait!!!!!
It's been a couple of years since we last holidayed, due to house move, arrival of baby, and obvious lack of funds associated with both...... So yeah, a week off in a 5* hotel being waited on hand and foot sounds good to us !!
Even better when it's been paid for by the outlaws :)

Turkey next month for a week, Messini for two weeks in August- both Neilson Beachclub holidays.
Center Parcs Woburn for new year

44 days until the June holiday and 122 before the September one. I can taste the Ouzo!!!

No working trips this year, so I have to pay for my own holidays :(

Long weekend in Montana, and I'll finally begin to use my D7000 again. Haven't picked the thing up since June 2013

Later in the year (October), 2 weeks in sunny, warm San Diego; in a condo right on the beach.

I have to wait until November. :(

......but then I am off on holiday with my Mum who will be eighty in December. My two brothers are paying for us as a treat for her (and me!)

We are going to fly Heathrow to Singapore for four days and then on to Brisbane for 13 days, down to Melbourne for 11 days and then back to the UK . :woot:

Part of me wants to take all my gear, but the reality will probably be the RX100.........

Just booked for a week riding on railways in Scotland.
West coast Line.
The Jacobite aka Harry Potter.
Strathspey Steam Railway Avimore, Monarch of the Glen.
Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh Quoted by Michael Palin as “one of the most beautiful rail journeys in Europe’.
All this and a visit to Glen Grant Distillery!
West Coast Line again.

Just booked a few days in Krakow for me and the Mrs in January.

Unsure if we'll visit Auschwitz or not. Photography head says yes, but I fear I'll be a quivering wreck by the end of the tour.

Kicked off 2014 with Portugal

Booked for the next couple of months:
IOW Festival (only really for RHCP but may as well stay around for the other acts)
Bangkok
Skomer
Cornwall

Deliberating over Rome in Autumn (would cost me £0 due to a bunch of airmiles and would land me in SWMBOs good books) and Iceland come the winter for a bit of Northern Lights shooting.

Sounds amazing. Take all of your gear! 80 is still young; your Mum wouldn't mind being your sherpa in the 30c tropical climate of Singapore would she? ;)
