Holidays 2013

Well at the moment I have no more holidays planned. Next month the AVE (high speed train) connection between here and Madrid opens up, so I may go there for a weekend.

This time next week we will be (probably) in Chania, Crete, waiting for 18:00 local time so we can have an Ouzo before trying to decide where to go for some dinner. However, we might be still in or near the room trying to decide where to go for dinner (and waiting for 18:00... aka "Ouzo time"!)

After last year's washout (health reasons), we're both looking forward to seeing all our Cretan friends who were so worried about me last year along with the many others who tend to stay in the same place at the same time (of assorted nationalities).

Off to Amsterdam in two weeks. Quite excited now.

Already been holiday to the Philippines in February and March and was out of A job for a month after that.

No more holidays for this year ATM

We are off camping at the beginning of August, first time for us as a family (apart from one night in a friend's back garden last year, she does live on a farm though ). We are heading up Clitheroe way, as my sister lives up there and the scenery is just beautiful :)

olu deniz, turkey in 5 weeks time
brand new all inclusive hotel i cant wait

My plans for two weeks in Italy including a few days in Monza for the GP got shelved, so I might try to go for a long weekend in Firenze late September instead. When it's just me I tend to be very lazy about organising holidays and end up with loads of leave left at the end of the year.

7 weeks...

Although if non international ones count, we're off tomorrow for a long weekend in Lungdung. Hoping to "do" a couple of museums (maybe the NHM and SciMus) and might have to allow someone a look in a few shop windows.

Just back from a 2 week jaunt in Barcelona, Cordoba & Porto....still jet lagged a little (the 8 hour time difference is a bitch), and off to Seattle for a week on Saturday.

Was that you with a camera at La Sagrada Familia? I know the towers are high, but 8 hours??? Seriously - it's a corker of a place to go with a camera ain't it? I want to go back!

It was an amazing place to visit....but the goddamn tourists & cranes just get in the way ;) I was thankful for the lift to the top of the tower given it was 35c outside!!

What was equally amazing to visit was the Grand Mosque in Cordoba; both for architecture and history.

We didn't make Cordoba, but I've heard about the Grand Mosque. It's on the list. We spent our time going round all the Gaudi stuff - Parc Guell, La Pedrera, Casa Batllo etc.

As you say there's just too many tourists with cameras!!!

Of the 2 I think la Sagrada Familia is the most spectacular. I was gutted that they don't allow tripod use in la Mezquita!

Yeah, Parc Guell is a great way to get 'lost' for several hours. Didn't make it inside of La Pedrera or Casa Batllo, even though it was just 3 blocks from the hotel. Too busy at all times of the day, so just strolled the streets and took the tourist bus on the Red & Blue routes. A great way to see the city and sights.

Really want to go back to Barcelona now!!!

Cordoba is a real nice city, very similar to the Barri Gotic area of Barcelona.

Yup, a tripod is a must in La Mezquita. I can see why they don't allow the use though.

Really want to go back to Barcelona now!!!

Of all the big Spanish cities, Barcelona is the one that interested me the least, and I'd not bother going back unless I was passing by. Córdoba I found lacking in atmosphere. The ones that I prefer are Sevilla, Valencia and Madrid.

That view of the inside of Sagrada^^^ is one of the few decent shots you can get without a crane or trippers involved. We were left wondering at the mind of the man who thought all that up. Sheer genius yet he died almost a pauper, run over by a tram; so sad.

I must go back when it's finished - in approx 100 years.

Smashing weekend in Cornwall this weekend then 15 days just south of Madrid in August catching up with the Wife's relatives and my 7 year old who's going out there for 6 weeks mid July! Can't wait!

Off to Florida again in September for 3 weeks. It's becoming a bit of a habit.

Still need to think of somewhere special to go at the end of the year. :/

My mum went there earlier this year and loved it Ricardo.:)

I think I'll be so fed up with the cold this winter here that I was thinking of a warmer climate to be honest. It's my 40th on new years day, hence I was hoping to make it special.

A villa in Hawaii over new year might be nice.

Monday I go to Madrid for a short visit. Needless to say I'll take the camera. Forecast is 36C Monday to Wednesday, and 34C on Thursday. Lovely!

In a week, we're back off to Crete - got a tripod to deliver (that's my excuse, anyway!)

That's it for the year. No more holidays planned sadly. Probably going to Wales for a few days in Nov, but that's not my idea of a holiday!

Cheer me up guys with your plans for the winter!

Just back (well, a week or so ago) and nothing planned for the winter. We may do a few day trips and possibly a filthy 48 but no proper holidays.

Until June next year. They're flying direct to Heraklion from our local airport next year so we've booked 2 fortnights already (they tend to go quickly). Booked the June accommodation back in June this year but we'll do a tour in September with a few nights in 4 or 5 towns which we haven't visited for a few years.

The wisemen family have one small trip left this year, centre parcs again in a few weeks time. Had one trip there already this year at Easter, plus a couple of weeks in Sharm el sheikh for summer which we came back from 2 weeks ago. Also had a weekend in London for our anniversary and a weekends glamping in the Yorkshire dales. A couple of other camping trips and half a dozen visits to Germany for me to visit colleagues and mates and I'm ready for a rest now! Time to start planning next years trips.

Currently sat sipping a white wine after dinner in hisaronu Turkey.

End of Route 66 beckons in couple of weeks, oh yes!

Off to Bang Bao Bay on Koh Chang island in a few weeks, can't wait for a spot of fishing, eating and the odd drink or three.
