I am stumped, really want to take my wife away for a long weekend but i am being to fussy and indecisive on the whole matter... I wanted a bit of luxury and looked at cabins with hot tubs ect.... anyone got any ideas.... We are based in Essex and i am happy to drive a fair distance if its worth it... Been looking at flights and they are not much good as we need a night flight on the Friday..... Come on you guys help a man out

The luxury cabins at Center Parcs can be nice. Sauna, wet room, jacuzzi, log fires etc all with lovely views. The Spas there aren't too bad, not 5* quality, but easily comparable with 4* hotel spas.

Failing that, Eurostar to Paris, find a nice hotel with spa? I imagine it's easy for you to get to St Pancras from Essex? I do it from Kent and it's about 2.5/3 hours from my door to Gare Du Nord.

Flights can waste a hell of a lot of time if you've only got a weekend to fit this all this in. I would rule anywhere further than 4 hours door to door as too far for a weekend (just my opinion).

I would love to visit Scotland, but for a weekend it's too far, and if I had a week or longer to play with I would be picking somewhere more exotic.

To add to the Center Parcs idea, Essex to the Elevden one shouldn't take too long via car.

If you are definitely set on cabins and not hotels, this is what I would recommend. Can be very romantic, plenty of nice rural areas to walk / cycle around.

Thanks guys really helped... Would not say I was set on a cabin but it's more personal then a busy hotel

Centreparcs is excellent, really recommend it. Sure if u google glamping it may also throw some new ideas in. Something like welcome cottages?
