*** Holiday Notice ***

We would like to give a big thanks to everyone for your support and interest in Panamoz.

We will be on holiday from September 29th to October 4th, 2012. Therefore, our next shipping date will be on October 4th. At the same time, we will be back to answer all your enquiries on October 4th. Thanks for your understanding.

I would also like to apologise for responding slower than usual this week, not only here at the forum, but also on emails. I was away for a day earlier this week so I wasn't able to answer as quickly as I would like.

Regards,
Tina

A question about the next shipping date on 4th October...

My UPS status is showing as follows:-

- "Order Processed: Ready for UPS" -
"A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated."

Does this mean the parcels have not left your premises yet and are still waiting for UPS to collect them and they won't now be dispatched until 4th October?

Oh dear and I was going to place an order until I saw htis.

Just trying to imagine every Jessops shop in the country closing down for holidays...

Quite a common thing outwith of the UK, some car factories etc close down for 2 months at certain points of the year. Some places in the UK even close for something called Christmas and New Year.

Last time I checked there was still 3 months to Christmas - and a bit longer until New Year.

Unless there is a specific Chinese holiday that we do not know about - it is causing a bit of stress to those who have placed orders.

I would suspect that all orders all ready placed will be dispatched as per normal up to but not including the 29th

That's pretty much what I've asked above and I've also sent a mail to Tina with the same question. Still waiting for a reply, but bearing in mind it's 5pm over there, they may well have already knocked off for the holiday :(

Funnily enough, its still quite common here in the back streets of ol' London Town, shops and cafes will close annually for a couple of weeks whilst the owners go on holiday and the staff take theirs at the same time. Came as a bit of a surprise when I first moved here, would walk round the corner to grab some lunch and find the cafe or the bakers closed and assume they had closed down, only to find them 'back in business' two weeks later. ;)

I sent a BACS payment for my order at around 17:30 yesterday and have just received an email to say it's being shipped today and I should receive it within 2-3 business days. The tracking shows 'A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated'.

The irony of your avatar is amusing to me ;)

Just this minute received this reply to my email...

"Hi there, it will not affect your order. UPS will pick up your order
today. Thanks again.

So you can now calm down - and stop hitting F5 on your key-board every other minute. A perfect start to your weekend.

LOL! I'll be calm when the UPS guy hands me the parcels and I have everything I ordered in good working order :D

...but, given that it's already Friday, it looks like that won't happen until next week now :(

What exactly does the '2-3 working days' mean? I assume UPS 'work' over the weekend in the sense that they continue to move parcels and they are put on flights and flights aren't limited to weekdays.

If UPS receive a parcel on a Friday, when would I expect to receive it here in the UK?

Yes, I'm getting itchy fingers already!

It'll probably take Friday and Saturday to reach the UK. I guess the plane has some stop-offs to do on-route. UPS don't deliver on Sundays, so I would guess you'd get it no sooner than Monday at the earliest.

There's been a UPS update on mine, but it's a bit odd. Panamoz split my order into 2 parcels, one of which has now been "Collected" from Panamoz and is now at Kowloon Bay, but the other is still saying it's "Ready for UPS", so I assume still at Panamoz :( Maybe it just hasn't had the UPS label attached/scanned yet....fingers crossed.

Working days are Mon-Fri.

That may be the case in many (most?) instances but does it really apply to organisations such as UPS and DHL? Do all of their parcels stop moving (I'm differentiating between home-delivery and movement through their international network) on a Saturday and Sunday? Instinct says no as that would produce huge bottle-necks.

dhl and ups networks do indeed work 24 7 it is olny your local delivery drivers that work Monday to Friday day as a norm
Items are shipped round the uk form hubs to depots throughout the night they'd never get their during rush hour
you can however pay for Saturday special delivery and same day but probably not from hong Kong unless you charter your own air plane lol

Domino, mine was the same but both are now in Chep Lak Kok, how about yours?

Yep, mine are both there as well, eta Monday 1st Oct. Let the race continue :D

Ha. Quite odd to think that our parcels are most likely stacked next to each other half a world away.

Glad it's working out for us both. The panic of this morning - not knowing if I'd get my goodies before going away - was most unpleasant!

I ordered and paid for my 5d mkiii on Tuesday evening and received it Friday morning so there seems to be some inconsistency in delivery times

I ordered and paid for a camera and a lens on Thursday evening. Shipping labels were created for both on Friday but only one parcel was picked up the same day. The second has been picked up today.

The first is showing as due to be delivered by close of business on Monday and I'm waiting for the estimate for the second.

Both at the airport now. Both shown as due to be delivered by close of business Monday.

Order Thursday evening, delivery from Hong Kong by Monday evening. Amazing.

Looks like three of us have got parcels on the same flight!

Not only do we get that, but there's some aversion to working on a wednesday round here... 3/4 of the shops in town either close early or dont even open on a wednesday. Never worked that one out

One of mine has already departed tomorrow(!) and the other is still at Chek Lap Kok.

Don't forget they're 7 hours ahead, so "tomorrow" is relative ;)

Try buying stuff from Italy or Spain in late August, you'll all get a shock.

....difficult cos the bloody countries shut.

Seriously, if you are buying from the other side of the world you should expect there to be the odd delay.

I trust you are all paying import tax/VAT on these items...............:naughty:
