Holiday in Spain - take the camera?

You are going to have a good time! I find it hard work sometimes carrying the extra bits! But I just plan my day....if I am going to the beach, the camera stays in the hotel, but I am going to the markets or just a walk, I will take it with me! I might have a camera afternoon or a few hours!!!

It is just as safe as the UK. Question is, will you use it? and that my friend, only you can answer!!!!

Bolly

(ooops! I didnt read all pages!!!)

Well...I'm back and had a great time with the camera. What's clear from putting them into Lightroom is how much I need to work on steadying my shots (a few came out blurry), but I know this is a practice thing!

I'm just about to drop a shot I'm really happy with into the feedback section. It's a street shot which I put into B&W.

Thanks for the advice guys!

Glad you made it back in one piece! So, where did you go?

We went to Barcelona a few years back and were put off by the much hyped 'pickpocket' capital of the world gumpf that is all over the internet.

Rightly or wrongly, it did put me off taking the main camera, not because the loss would be 'irreplaceable' - that's what insurance is for, but rather I just didn't want the hassle or the feeling associated with being a victim (again). Instead I took a trusty old compact.

That said, in retrospect, it was probably not the right decision. It's a beautiful city, and I missed out on some good opportunities.

Mind you, I was approached on two separate occasions by people on the street with carrier bags full of DSLRs offering them for sale - so there is some truth in the rumours!

Barcelona does deserve its reputation. The facts prove it. But going without a wide lens is crime in itself!
