hi all,

I'm driving to the south of France this year and as I have the room, plan on taking quite a bit of equipment. Has anyone taken out specific insurance for their equipment? I've looked at a few policies and they seem to only cover UK bought equipment from vat register suppliers. A lot of mine is second hand from private sellers and grey importers. Has anyone found cover for this?

I haven't specifically, but have you checked your household policy?
Might be worth a call to your insurers to see if they will cover it just for the duration.
Let us know, as I'm sure others are/will be in the same boat as you.

Thanks and yes, they cover for a limited amount but require VAT receipts.
 
I always used Cliik insurance, but they recently sold out to Hiscox, which is a huge shame.
Photoguard quoted me £270 for a year's cover of £15,000 worth of gear, if it helps.
That includes up to 20 days abroad IIRC, but does NOT include theft from a vehicle.
