I'm thinking of getting one. Was wondering if there are any holga users on here? I reckon I'm going to go for the 120N or 120GN, can't decide if I'd like a glass or plastic, my head is slightly towards the plastic at the moment.

I'm planning on sticking Tri-X 400 or similar through it and was going to develop the negs myself and then somehow get them scanned in. I may even nick my Dad's darkroom equipment and start playing around with that, could be fun.

The totally low-tech anti-digitalness really appeals to me and I love the results that I have seen from other holga users.

Looks like I can pick one up for about £20 on ebay but if anyone knows of a cheaper source then please let me know.

John, I'm a definite Holga fan. Even though I'm not a digital shooter, the Holga is even more basic than my manual medium format gear. Can be just the thing to get out of a creative rut.

£20 seems like a lot for a Holga. I can get them here in the States for less than half that. I'm not sure of a UK source, but I'm certain you can find them for less if you look around a little.

Definitely go with the plastic lens. After all, the lens distortion is a big part of the Holga's charm; the glass lenses are a little too good for me.

Cheapest I could find from a UK Supplier was about £30, £20 is for one shipped from HK off ebay. I've search quite a bit and can't find one cheaper unfortunately. Although now that I think of it camera obscura is 5 minutes walk from my house and is just the sort of place that would do holgas so I might pop in there tomorrow.

I've wanted a holga for ages, just forgot about until the weekend when my friend took one to the festival I was at and I was thinking it's the ideal camera to take to a festival and just keep in my bag for random stuff. I didn't take my DSLR to the festival as I wanted the weekend off 'serious' photography and lugging round loads of kit. Although I did rather wish that I had brought my olympus OM20 along as it would have been a nice fairly compact camera to have with me.

I can see me having ordered a holga before the night is out anyway...

I don't have a Holga (yet) but I have a Lomo LC-A. Its epic fun. I try and follow the guidelines they lay out as part of the Lomography way of shooting. For that reason photos I would probably bin with the DSLR I keep because its a totally different style of photography. Its tricky to use though. Trying to work out distances, focus and things. I haven't used mine in over a year and theres a roll in it, I think and hope. I'm using it to document the eighthundred project because its a fun little camera for it.

I ordered a holga last night so it should turn up next week, all I need now is to get some roll film to go with it. If anyone can recommend a supplier of kodak tri-x 400 120 roll film, or similar b+w film for a reasonable price I'd love to hear from you!

I'm really looking forward to getting it. I can see me going out a lot more for random wanders than with my D-SLR. Should be a lot of fun and great for inspiring creativity.

I've got a Holga FN, plastic lens I believe (with flash). I find it more difficult to get decent a pic from it than my LC-A, but when I do .... ahhhhh there's something magical about the result
