Oh, that;s a shame. I really quite like Foma 100 and 200 and was hoping the 400 was a similar style. I might risk a roll though, just to see.
 
If anyone finds F5 for low amount of ££ do let me know :)
 
Found a place near me (Redditch) called The Vintage Barn, as well as all your normal vintage & collectables
they had cameras all over the place, I saw some Olympus trips at £10.00 and and I bought a Olympus OM10 for £15.00
he also had a few boxes of cameras out the back that he had not put out.

I think that TLR was £38.00 but the mirror had a few marks on it but could see ok through the top.
 
Got a bulk loader and a Jessops developing tank and two reels at a car boot today. Don't need either, but it was £1 for both. I also got a 49mm circular polariser for £2.
 
Picked up a M42 Chinon CE memotron body with unused film inside for £2 today...some say it's a classic having manual with top speed of 1/2000 and aperture priority (if selected on auto) and built like a tank. Some are going for silly prices on ebay.
Anyway all seems to be working but has a silly 6v battery to work and also an initial look it seems to have a design fault in that you can only take a meter reading if you wind on the film :eek:, so once checked out any newbie can have my mint Praktica TL5B for £2.80 postage.

2 bargains today.

Rondinax 35U for £15 that a friend picked up for me in a small shop. Also a Kent 20 daylight tank for a tenner in the same small shop. I'm hoping the rondinax is going to behave itself and not snap the thingy like the Essex one did!

Yesterday while clearing out my great uncles garage I found a Vest Pock Kodak Model B it appears to be in reasonable condition. I'm really tempted to try and get a roll of film for it and try it out.

We also found a Agfamatic 2000 complete with close up attachment and I think there was a flash attachment too it has a film in it which I really need to get developed.....

Have you still got the metal jaws? You can replace the rubber tape quite easily.

You really should 127 film isn't common but is can be had from the web.

I've got all the bits still. Luckily a mate of mine is good at mending stuff and is going to make a better version of it to use. Not sure where the best place to get chemical proof suitable tape from is though.

Some people slag off the Em but my father used it and sadly when he passed away I used it for a while (and all this must be during 15 year' use and I haven't used it for the last 6 years) and it never let us down and the exposure were 99% spot on. ..a nice simple camera.

Ah, mine came undone at the end (so the claws came away) which was a simple fix with a staple... but that may have weakened the tape, I suppose. Worth fixing the Rondinax, though.
 
It's more just another to add to the ever growing collection but sure it will get used one day
Yes I have read good and bad on them but I tend to not listen as people have good and bad things to say about everything like to try stuff for myself lol
I will stick a 50 1.8 and chuck it in glovebox in car then it's there if I need a little walk about set up while out on my many missions lol
 
Nice Selfix folder at the bootie and looked complete:- Anyway for the guys here thought I'd ask what was the price on my return visit...but it had gone. Well all I got at another stall was a Pentax SMC 50mm f2 for my Ricoh for £2.

Hi all. Have just started a collection of "older" 35mm cameras. Am aiming for anything pre 2000 which will give me a lot of scope for my collection. I currently have 6 and am always heading to car boots to find more LOL. Here is a list of what i have and what i have paid for then x

Yashica Minister III complete with leather case. £2
Bought as a pair......Praktica PL nova I Fitted with a soligor 135mm lens and a Mayer-Optic 2.8/50 and a Zenit EM with standard lens £5
Praktica MTL 50 with a tessar 2.8/50 and a 100-200 Prinzflex zoom. Complete with camera hard case and lens bag. £5
Minolta 7000 fitted with 28-85 Macro lens £5
Minolta dynax5 fitted with a 28-80. £5

i really love the older ones but the minolta's are fun to use too. am going to try and run a film through every one i own just to see if they are still working and hopefully have some fun doing it x
 
It's a great hobby picking up old film cameras and lenses, but it's mainly luck as you have to be at the right place and time e.g. the bargain you would have bought might have been sold 2 mins before..another time was when I was looking at a camera in a holdall and I said "where are all the lenses" and the seller said "they went about 6:30" ...WTF I was there at 7:45 :eek:
 
Yeah there is that but i also think that its not a mainstream thing for people to collect older camera stuff. i have found that the little, local car boot sales are the best ones. The bigger ones tend to have more collectors where as the smaller ones people dont really know what they have got lol

That can be true and with the small one I visit, I do get some great bargains and arrive about 7:30 to have first pick...anyway it also depends if other photographers are around in competition...and strangely some bargains can be had if arriving late as when the seller realises somethings are not selling, practically gives them away to save the bother of taking them back home.....I could write a list from a full set of star trek in a case for 10p to a lovely A3 colour printer complete with all accessories and spare ink for 20p...it's all luck.
 
It was just sitting on a shelf in Cash Converters alongside a Praktica MTL-50 for £4.50 and Pentacon 70-210mm for £1 too. Still not sure why I didn't just buy the lot.

I check the Cash Converters website pretty much every day for film gear. Never seen an f1.4 for a £1, though, and now I know why! ;-)
 
Hmm I never thought to look in there! I just assumed all their camera gear would be digital for some reason. There's one about 1/2 mile from my house so I'll have to go have a look at the weekend. Never actually seen any cameras in any of the charity shops in my town though, so I'm not holding out much hope!

Film even has its own section on the website. If I didn't already have an XA2, I think I'd be tempted by that Konica. Looks really nice. POstage is an extra tenner though for that one.

They had a Leica iii last month (only had a Soviet lens on it, though). It's kinda sad - people presumably hoped to come back for their gear but didn't.
 
My battery died on my phone. I went back for the Praktica kit but it had gone. Maybe the assistant realised after our conversation how cheap the stuff was and bought it himself.

I saw the Leica, I prefer SLRs, saying that if anyone wants to give me a Leica I'll be happy to accept it. A lot of people are just selling their old equipment to fund something else, or their relatives old equipment.
 
I've just bought a Spotmatic SP off ebay for £14.95 or £19.45 inc p&p. Well I needed one for my lens didn't I?
 
That £1 Tak would make a VG combo with my Chinon CE memotron body bought at the bootie for £2 ;)
